Looks pretty but is ultimately unpractical. The location is about 15 mins walk from nearest shops and 20 mins walk to the tube/subway to central London. It’s relatively quiet and there’s a nice little garden. The house is full of character with comfy seating in the living room…
Response from Magnus:
Dear Benjamin, Sarah here. I'm afraid I will not be as kind and patient with you as Magnus has been until now. Please think about the way you behave. I am shocked by your attitude. Think back 10 days ago, before you arrived. We had bought a cot for your son, which was corresponding to the age you gave us. If your baby is oversized or bigger than usual, you should have told us so we would have been able to adapt to the situation. Instead you made us buy a new one, that you tried to escape paying afterwards. After this, you apparently spent an horrible week in our deeply unpractical house. I can only imagine that this feeling was what motivated you to take so little care of our cottage. When guests leave, we always come before the cleaner to see in what state the place was left. I was amazed by what I saw. Never before did we have people as dirty as you staying in our home. The living room was a scene of chaos. It looked like you turned everything around. A few tennis balls and a football were left over. Their presence here explained why our little statues on the top of the fireplace were ups and down. Also, you made big black marks on the walls we just painted, should I send you a picture of that? We took several to send to Airbnb's administration. I love our house, and I love to cook. When I saw the kitchen, I jumped. I was so ashamed to ask our cleaner to come after you that I started cleaning it myself. I had to do all the dishes again as they were oily. Dirty pots were left on the (incredibly dirty) floor. It looked like a pig house. No, we do not have a dining table, you could see this on the photos from our Airbnb profile. Why exactly did you buy a dustpan? You didn't seem to have used it. By the way, we have a hoover. Also, it was very kind of yours to take out your hair from the shower, but disgusting to leave them still wet on the floor. While we are talking about the bathrooms, I dear hope you do not leave you faeces and urine leaking down the floor in your own house. I'm so sorry you had to boil water with the kettle to warm up the bath of your baby boy. It sounds like a Zola book, so miserable! But did you try to open the taps properly? That would have been a clever thing to do. We never had guest complaining about our beds since we changed all mattresses over a year ago. That's surprising, again. About the exiguë access to some of the beds, again, we put pictures of all bedroom on the profile of the house. Did you see them? If it wasn't right for your or your friends' corpulence, you could have booked an other place, no? Let's talk about the mice and spiders, now. We never saw any mice before and I still didn't spot any since back. If, and only "if", there were mice coming during your stay, I would assume they were there to eat the very diverse kind of food you left on the floor. Do you usually leave biscuits, rice and bits of vegetables on the ground in your place? This is not a custom we have here in England, but maybe are we being too conservative here. For the spiders, again, I laughed when I saw the webs. We are in the middle of a green area, with many trees and parcs around and it's winter. If you don't bother to clean any basic stuff, don't be surprised to have them coming in. One last thing. You think you paid the cleaner fairly well for your staying. £40. This correspond to two hours before and after you come. Do you actually believe this was enough time to clean the mess you left behind? Cleaners are not some kind of dogs. What you did was low and deeply disrespectful. I would never leave my cleaner scrub off your excrements from the floor. I will mention this experience to the man looking after our neighbourhood watch, to make sure none of our neighbours will ever have to experience your coming to their house. I am also writing to Airbnb to tell them all this. I advised Magnus not to leave a too bad public review on your profile so you would not be framed in the future. I thought you might have had other things in mind than being clean and nice people during your holiday. I was wrong and I regret it. I hope to never cross your way again, Best Regards, Sarah (and Magnus)
I'm a journalist and my partner Sarah is a photographer, so we travel a lot. However, there is no better place to get back to than our lovely cottage. We hope you'll have a great stay in our house!
