Set in idyllic rural countryside, Bovagh is a Georgian country house surrounded by enchanting woodland and a well-stocked fishing river. It is close to the Giant's Causeway, award-winning beaches, romantic ruins at Downhill and Dunluce and, of course, world-class golf courses at Portstewart and Portrush.

The space
With its high ceilings, wooden beams and Aga cooker, the house marries old world charm with modern day comforts, including oil-fired under-floor heating, a wood-burning stove, wi-fi throughout, a 42-inch TV, access to Sky channels, a barbeque and a table tennis table.

There are three spacious double bedrooms, two of which have ensuite bathrooms. Two further twin bedrooms each have an adjacent bathroom. Small groups of friends and families will enjoy Bovagh, whether as a place to celebrate or simply relax and explore the woods and take long river walks.

We have have teamed up with an accomplished private chef who can, subject to availability, be booked to provide you with a gourmet holiday experience.

Bovagh is an ideal base for self-catering groups of up to 10 people, whether your destination is 'Game of Thrones' filming locations, including Ballintoy Harbour and the Dark Hedges, the world’s oldest licensed distillery at Bushmills, Derry's historic city walls or the hills of Donegal.

Please note that certain aspects of the house are in the process of being slowly and unobtrusively renovated.

Guest access
Two rooms are off limits, however there is still plenty of space. These are separate to the accommodation described for your use.

Other things to note
Housekeeping: Should you want to stay for a week or longer there will be an extra cleaning charge of £60 a week payable at the end of your stay.

Heating: We provide wood for the fires. There is also oil-fired heating. The house is divided into heating zones, each of which has a timer. You will find thermostats throughout the house. Please note that additional heating costs may be incurred for stays of more than 5 nights in the colder months.

Location

Aghadowey , Northern Ireland, United Kingdom

Bovagh is in Aghadowey, a large, prosperous rural townland about 10 miles south of Coleraine that has a long history of linen manufacture.

The house is surrounded by 20 acres of woodland and is bounded on the east by the Agivey River. If you are interested in fishing please let Rohan and Joan know as the house has a permit for a rod or two. Please see the Agivey Anglers Association website.

There are three grass fields on the property that may be home to a dozen or so frisky young cattle over the warmer months. Please do not venture into the fields if they are present and keep an eye out for tractors and other farm vehicles.

The house is about 20 minutes from the beaches and attractions of the North Coast and well as the Sperrin Mountains and Roe Valley to the west.
