Cosy 4* self-catering cottage over 3 floors. In the centre of Whitby down a narrow yard off Flowergate.

Ground floor; entrance porch, kitchen/diner and homely sitting room.

First floor; compact bedroom with 2 single beds, bathroom and separate toilet.

Second floor; double bedroom (4'6 bed) with shower.

Small enclosed patio with seating. 1 small well behaved dog accepted with pre-approval (£20 dog fee).

Scratch-cards permits and parking disc are provided free for on-street parking.

The space

Short breaks welcome in off peak periods, minimum 2 nights at the weekend and 3 nights midweek. Bookings in high season are for full weeks only.

Discounted fixed weekly price already included in final total.

As well as the parking scratch-cards permits provided there is also an option to purchase parking permits valid for a few days from Whitby Tourist Information Centre or Scarborough Borough Council. These allow parking in various car parks in Whitby and surrounding areas. (May be handy if you are exploring the beautiful surrounding areas.)

Guest access

Guests will have access to enjoy the whole property all to themselves including the small patio/garden.

Interaction with guests

I'm usually contactable during your stay so message, text or call.

Other things to note

may/may not be suitable for under two/three year olds. Please read the listing carefully so you can decide.

There is a travel cot provided but be aware this is a small cottage and if used in the only bedroom it fits into (double), it is a fairly tight fit.
There is a stair-gate but no high-chair and there are two steep-ish steps down to the patio for little ones.
The porch is ideal for storing a pushchair etc.

It is advised that guests have their own holiday insurance.

Park for free with the scratch-cards provided from Seashell Cottage in the 'W' marked zones. We have never had a problem finding a space but sometimes it is a little further away.

Phone signal in the cottage is reasonably good in the kitchen and upper floors though the sitting room may be limited.

Seashell Cottage is absolutely beautiful. We loved all the nautical finishing touches. It's a real home from home and absolutely spotless. The location was brilliant, close to shops and pubs and only minutes walk from the water. We were visiting Whitby for a whale watching trip (highly recommended) and the cottage was only a few minutes walk from the jetty. The Abbey is only a short drive away, but you can also walk there up the beautiful cliffs. Hazel was a fantastic host, we didn't meet, but communication was fantastic including recommendations for fish and chips! Parking permits are all organised, which was a huge advantage as I think it would have been difficult otherwise. Check-in and out couldn't have been easier. We were made to feel so welcome and hope to visit again. Thank you Hazel from Jo, Hermione and Elinor.

Located in a yard just off Flowergate, you're next to one of the main shopping streets in Whitby, yet it's lovely and quiet. I can easily recommend this to a family of four. Well kept and generously furnished, the cottage was a wonderful base for our week in Whitby. Would definitely stay here again.

Hazel's a great host! I have an injured neck and back so driving is sometimes a hassle and she was great at keeping in touch regarding buses and other bits of local information. The cottage was lovely and clean - the tea, biscuits and milk were all all a welcome touch after a long journey. Felt like a home from home so we were able to enjoy some cosy nights in and had everything we need (washing machine, easy to use cooker etc). Great location too - with pubs and restaurants less than a minute away and the beach just a few minutes' walk. Will definitely return!
