Our place is situated in a quiet, friendly road with a great community spirit. We have 2 shopping hubs a stone's throw from the front door: The Dip with a cafe, off licence and basic shops, and Fiveways a vibrant collection of shops, cafes and amenities. If you're looking for the full Brighton experience, we are only 15 minutes away by bus or car and 30 minutes on foot. Free on-street parking and on a direct bus route. Our place is good for couples, solo travellers, or business travellers.
Our home is spacious, but cosy and welcoming. We are keen that you feel you can really make yourself at home, even though you will be sharing the space with us. In fact, that's the fun part in that we get to meet interesting people who are travelling to Brighton. The bedroom is really bright and airy, with a view out to the colourful garden. The bed is a sofa bed, but is a king size, with a luxurious memory foam topper - a good night's sleep guaranteed! I am a big supporter of stocking organic / environmentally friendly products where possible and we recycle whatever we can - including food waste to our allotment. We tend to cook and eat Veggie or Vegan food and there's often a surplus of produce from the allotment to go around.
Guests can access all the shared rooms - Kitchen/Diner, Lounge, Middle Floor Bathroom and Garden, as well as their own room.
Interaction with guests
I often work from home in my textile workroom, so I can be on hand to help with any questions you have or make suggestions about what to do. We love having the chance to share our home grown organic veggies from our allotment, so if you need some cooking inspiration, we can provide it!
Other things to note
We have a lodger who shares our home with us.
Tea and coffee is provided. Soya milk is also available for your own hot drinks.
There is a bicycle and lock which can be borrowed for your stay.
Quiet time after 10pm on weekdays.
I’ve lived in Brighton since 1998 and enjoy the cosmopolitan feel of the ‘city’. I love living in Hollingdean with its friendly community and in my spacious home with its unusual garden. I live in the house with my partner, Ross and we usually have a lovely lodger living with us too. We are both keen gardeners, and spend lots of time up at our allotment growing tasty organic veg - which we like to give away when we have excess, so hope you like veggies! Ross is a Lecturer and is studying for an EdD and I'm an artist with some project management on the side. When I'm not gardening or working on my latest textile piece, I can be found cooking (and eating!), singing in a local choir, walking the beautiful South Downs countryside or socialising with friends. I also love to ceilidh dance and both Ross and I belong to Morris dancing sides. We have plenty of local knowledge about where to go and what to do. We really look forward to welcoming you to our home.
