Beautiful home, very spacious. Located on a busy street and beach access is via rocky area. We did not use the beach and went to Poipu for snorkeling and swimming.

After a very very long day of traveling we finally arrived exhausted to Patrick's place. It was late, so he left it open for us with the lights on. Being from the Northeast, we tend to run hot, and it felt a little stuffy and I couldn't figure out how to work the ceiling fans. I…

The house is absolutely beautiful. There is a second story balcony overlooking the beach. We ate breakfast there almost every morning. The house is well-stocked. The kitchen has pots, pans, utensils, and tupperware if you want to cook; there are plenty of beach towels and there i…

Place is amazing. Walk right across the street and put your feet in the sand. That view never got old.

Great stay at Patrick's place right across the street (about 75 yards) from our own private Kekaha sandy beach. Three bedrooms, each with its own bathroom, were all very comfortable with ceiling fans as well as AC. The view of the ocean and Niihau from upstairs is spectacular. Th…

The place/house/location was PERFECT for us and made for an amazing stay. This used to be a bed and breakfast so it feels very comfortable and has plenty of fun ad-ons (for example: hammock on the outside patio and a tiki bar with grill) . I will say that house rules would ha…

Response from Patrick:
Mahalo Jena~ we are glad to hear you and your group had a great time. If you are unaware, Jena and her group rented our large 3 bedroom Oceanfront Home; The Hale La. We don't receive many reservations via air bnb for this large high end vacation home. Jena's flight arrived late in the evening so we had no choice but to check in the party with one of her friends. I believe this likely caused a bit of miscommunication with Jena as we normally meet all the guests at check in and give them a tour of the place. During this tour we share details about how to best use the property and make ourselves available for any questions during their stay. Most appreciate this high level of service. I have to admit our typical guest for this special place are usually on the more "Mature" side and the age of her group had me concerned about how our property was going to be treated. On the first day I drove past on my way to work and saw the sliding doors wide open and several exterior lights on at around 9am. I went to the front door to share with Jena in person that it is important to mind the large windows/ sliding doors as this place as it is right on the ocean and on a windy day as this was, the salt air can do significant damage to the place. After knocking/ringing the door bell I realized they must be gone for the day. I also realized that every interior light was left on as well. I used my owners/managers key to enter to rectify the problems and made as many calls as I could to let anyone know I was there. I have to say that while the place seemed neat and orderly, I was concerned about it being left wide open for the day and literally every light in the place left on. When I went to the lanai to close the oversized oceanfront sliders, I saw the "Beer Pong" game left for the day; assuming for round two this evening? I think most can see how this could be taken as inconsiderate use of our property. All this being said, I sent her a carefully written email as she was not answering her phone. The email politely stated that we request the doors be closed for the day when you are leaving or in high wind conditions and to please turn off most if not all lights when they leave. Lastly, we want all of our guests to have a great time- this is a somewhat quiet family type neighborhood and while the games sounded fun, quiet time is expected from 9pm-9am. Also as an aside, we do have owners storage areas that are locked out and are not advertised as available with the rental either by description or picture. We do not have a habit of accessing these areas when the property is rented. In the end, and I believe to some extent with my proper management of the stay, Jena and her friends left the property in great condition with no complaints from the neighbors. I was happy to see this and would certainly rent to her again as it is clear that it is important to her group to vacation responsibly. Mahalo Jena and we hope to see you again~
