Description

The space

We have a lovely single room available in a nice, quiet area, 5 minutes away from King's Cross St Pancras, making it the perfect location for people traveling to any of the London Airports Internationally or by train from King's Cross, not to mention St Pancras International for continental trips.

This is an international three beedroom flat with a large kitchen, a toilet and separate shower, on the seventh floor of the tallest building in the area, offering a very nice view.
The room faces a nice park, with access to a balcony. It's in an eclectic style, combining both modern and antique elements, with a single bed, antique desk and wardrobe.

The neighbourhood is safe and home to many families, students and young professionals, with a variety of supermarkets, a shopping center - (website hidden) -, traditional pubs serving Sunday Roasts, bars, Spanish/Vietnamese/Japanese/Lebanese restaurants, roof terraces, concert halls, fitness centers and many more! The British Library is a 5 minute walk away and the British Museum 10 minutes away.

King's Cross is one of the best connected areas in London, on the Victoria, Picadilly, Northern, Hammersmith and City, Circle and Metropolitan lines. There are reliable bus connections both during the day and during the night, with Camden Town 15 minutes or The City 20 minutes away by bus.

Also, the flat is located close to a Harry Potter fan landmark, the 9 3/4 platform of King's Cross Train Station!!!

Interaction with guests

I will be away, but my flat mate is looking after our guests. They work during the day and often come home to cook and unwind, have a chat in the kitchen before going to bed. On the weekends we often go out for dinner and/or drinks, always trying to find a nice new bar or pub to explore. On quiet nights we play board games and cook dinners, sometimes have friends over too.

Getting around

King's Cross is one of the best connected areas in London, on the Victoria, Picadilly, Northern, Hammersmith and City, Circle and Metropolitan lines. There are reliable bus connections both during the day and during the night, with Camden Town 15 minutes or The City 20 minutes away by bus.

But since it's so central, sometimes you're better off walking. Oxford Street, Soho and Shoreditch are just 30 minutes away.

The flat is also conveniently located when flying into London, as there are trains from Gatwick and Luton airports straight to King's Cross, as well as the Piccadilly line connecting the area to Heathrow Airport.

It really doesn't get better than this!

Carmen and her were incredibly helpful, kind, and welcoming. The room was just as described and very conveniently located near Kings Cross station, shops, and restaurants in the area. Carmen was very accommodating and truly a wonderful host. I would recommend this listing to a friend.

Carmen was a lovely host and made me feel right at home. The room was spacious and comfortable. The biggest positive aspect of this stay was the location, it was so easy to get around from train/tube stations and is in the heart of the city for any travellers.

An amazing thing to appreciate about this place is how awesome its location is. The British Library is right across the street and the British Museum down another street and around a corner, even the Dickens Museum nearly down the street. But the main thing is that you are super close to the King's Cross/St.Pancras mega-transit hub: nearly all the major Tube lines intersect there, and you can also board the National Rail lines to elsewhere in the UK, or a slew of local buses, plus all the airport trains and shuttles you might want. Really, central London and nearly all of its major attractions are actually walkable from here, depending on your stamina and the weather. Make sure you also head in the other direction, to check out the Brunswick Center and some trendier shopping and culture. I guess I would describe the neighborhood, which I take it you'd call Camden/Bloomsbury as an up-scaling working class area, growing more diverse and with many students (U of London nearby). The young hosts were totally accommodating, helped me with directions, free cake, a new router and other facility upgrades while I was there. There was a slight mix-up regarding the calendar -- which didn't seem to be anyone's fault; it meant I got to discover that there's a perfectly fine hostel around the corner, and that one of the regular residents very selflessly surrendered her own bedroom to a guest when the suite ended up being overbooked a couple of days at the other end of my stay. No major worries. I'd highly recommend these quarters to anyone. London isn't cheap, but this place was a pleasant bargain.

I spent almost 2 weeks at Carmen's place. The location is very close to King's Cross Underground and St. Pancras International Terminal, it is super convenient. The room is compact, perfect for 1 person and has everything you need. Please be aware that it is a 3 bedrooms flat that you have to share toilet, bathroom, and kitchen with Carmen's . As for other concern, the wall is not a soundproof, Wifi signal inside the bedroom was considerably weak, but the ethernet wire provided for notebook is very nice. Other than that it is a nice place and good experience to stay in London.

I satyed for 45 days and I found myself very comfortable in the house. The room is large and beautifully decorated. It is clean, cosy and the heating works perfectly. The minor inconvenience was the internet connection, which sometimes did not work, but my always tried to help me. The location is fantastic: so near King's Cross Station and the UCL departments. The house is also very cosy and quiet. The neighborhood is nice and secure. Plenty of facilities nearby (supermakets, cafés, etc). I highly recommend it.

I'm a student at Queen Mary, University of London, doing a BA in Hispanic Studies and Comparative Literature.
I enjoy traveling, but when I don't have the time to travel myself, I would like to meet other people traveling, help them out by sharing all I've learned about London in the last three years since I've been here.
I live with two of my best friends, and together we create a nice environment, cook and play cards, and our guests are more than welcome to join!!

After spending a year in Barcelona in a flat that had a lot of Airbnb guests, I decided I wanted to try hosting people as well!! It was an amazing experience through which I met a lot of nice, interesting people!
