My place has lovely views of trees and hills. Close to the Velodrome and cycleways for cyclists and to Lake Karapiro for rowers and 20 metres to the polo field - it's across the road! 25-30 mins from Hobbiton and en route to Waitomo. You’ll love my place because of the peaceful feeling here and it's warm.
Two rooms available (and mine too sometimes - if there is a group of you /a rowing team etc. wanting to stay just ask) with very comfortable beds. Walk outside to the field opposite my house for reflective walks in the late afternoon sun or early morning sunrises. My place is good for sports people, tourists and business travellers. The bed is a tempur bed. VERY comfy. The room is on the south side with morning sun briefly. Window looks out onto small green leafy garden. Peaceful and cosy.
Guests have their own room/s and are free to use the kitchen, the two living rooms (tho' sometimes I work in one of the living rooms) and outdoor space which has a table and two seats. I have a spare fridge in the [internal access] garage for extra food as well as share the fridge in the kitchen
Interaction with guests
I am normally home although sometimes pop out to work with a student. You are welcome to do your own thing or to chat with me - I am also happy to help you out with information. If I am home I can drop you to the bus stop or to the local Hamilton airport. If I am not home, you would need to make your own arrangements.
Other things to note
The reason I do not officially provide breakfast is that often I am facilitating a Davis Dyslexia programme and need to focus on that. But of course, I am more than happy for you to get into my kitchen and cook or make breakfast with your food and put things in my fridge. (I have a spare fridge too, in the garage) Also as my guests have experienced, if the day is a good day and the sun is shining, then I will say - let's all have scrambled eggs together - but only if you want. Equally happy to respect your privacy.
Hi there, I am always happy meeting and hosting people from other places. My home is a warm, peaceful and restful place where you would be able to relax. You may be sharing with myself or others. I am usually here. There is a second bedroom you can book on my other listing. And when events are on in Cambridge, I offer a third bigger bedroom with ensuite. You can request this third room if there is a long-term (1 week or more) event you are attending.
For those who are flying into Auckland International Airport, it is a good idea to double check you have enough time to land, get through border control and out to your rental car in time to drive to Cambridge in the daylight.
Flight delays from the country of origin have caused a couple of guests to cancel their booking with me at the last minute - then they find themselves without accommodation - at night - in Auckland - on arrival. Not ideal.
Sometimes it can work out fine... but especially if landing later in the day, perhaps book a night in Auckland on arrival? Flight delays are common and Auckland traffic can make the trip out of Auckland slow, too, in mornings and afternoons/evenings. Once you are in Cambridge though, you can relax!!!

A certificate has just arrived in the post saying I am now a fully licensed Davis Dyslexia Facilitator. Fantastic! I have recently completed 3 years of study on Dyslexia; Dyspraxia; Dysgraphia; ADHD/ADD and coordination issues and have now set up literacy support services for children, youth and adults. I work from home one-to-one or at schools and organisations.
I am told my home is peaceful, warm and restful. You would be welcome.
About me... Yes, I know slightly geeky to talk directly about work... but
I was drawn to look for ways to help those who, no matter what we did as teachers, still struggled with reading and writing. In the hunt for a solution, I found that the Davis (Ron Davis) strategies worked brilliantly with the Pasifika and Maori adult learners I was teaching - it works with any ethnicity:) often those who faced literacy challenges in spite of having brilliant 3D real-world skills and practical or creative intelligence galore.
I also love swimming, biking, camping, good healthy food and seeing and meeting different people in different places so that I keep a healthy perspective on life the universe and everything.
