I am Jaws and JawsAtSattal is actually an extention of myself, of my personality. I have been an avid traveller (though within India only ) for almost 40 years. I always tried to visit places which were off the beaten track and "zara hatke". These fascinating travelling experiences had kindled in me the urge to be an innkeeper myself. It took me a while to achieve that dream, but it now does give me immense satisfaction and joy.
The tag line of JawsAtSattal is "Genuine Hospitality". Although it does sound a bit boastful and pompous, it IS genuine and comes from a deep belief of providing guests an awesome experience....something that they take back with them with a feeling of WOW !!! My own travelling sojourns and experiencing places as a guest, has given me the insights in hosting methods. Therefore, for example, you will find that the kitchen is always ready to serve you piping hot rotis even at late hours or a sumptuous breakfast in the wee the hours of the morning.
Along with the aforementioned passion of travelling, i am also a passionate cook. The passion existed from childhood, but the serious experimenting of my culinary skills developed over the last 20 odd years. Ranging from pan-Indian cuisine, i also cook Italian, some Mediteranian and of-course Chinese. But the passion is such that i experiment in my laboratory (read kitchen) on an every day basis.
Music plays an integral part of my life, especially these days to sample and unearth local and international sounds. Over the years one has been exposed to all genres - Jazz, classical, Sufi, et al. But the sounds of world music is something that really excites me. And what with the internet, the scope of exploring new sounds is limitless. So when you visit JawsAtSattal, you might, if lucky, meet some budding young amateurs who make some superb music.
As a host, i make an effort to see that my guests are most comfortable. When i'm sensitive enough to understand the "space" that you need on a holiday, i will also make sure that i am always there to help you understand the eco system better. I am an extrovert and easy going ( and that is why i love my job and am passionate about it). I always look for great conversations and experiences of others. I love conversations that meander along nature and environment, current affairs, world cultures, hollywood and bollywood, fashion and short free flowing ideas and musings along with some amber liquid especially around the bon-fire pit or the dining table or just when lazing in the living/lounge area overlooking the stunning Sattal valley !!!!
So, do i have a life motto.......well it could be "life is precious and short, dont mope and waste it...... travel, meet people, understand cultures and be happy ".
So, do visit....soak in the mountain air, rejuvenate and experience "Genuine Hospitality"
