Martin house is a early 1900s farmhouse that has been adapted to a modern rural lifestyle; unfussy and romantic. Located 5 minutes from public boat launches at both Cedar and South Lake Leelanau, 10 minutes from the beaches of Traverse City or 30 minutes from Glen Arbor, home to alpine ski hills and the breathtaking symphony of water and sky that is the Sleeping Bear Sand Dunes.
Screened in porch, rustic barn, outdoor fireplace, large yard, and private access to the 17-mile Leelanau Trail.

The space

Located on a one-acre lot, Martin house features an early 1900s barn, outdoor space with a flower garden and family-style fire pit, detached private game room, open access to the TART bike trail, a new structure, new appliances, and classic style. The space comfortably sleeps 6 people, as there is one queen bed in the master bedroom, two twin beds in the guest bedroom and two twin beds in the open loft area (a daybed and trundle bed.) The master bedroom has a soaking tub and small sink while the main floor bathroom has a large shower. The kitchen has a large farmhouse style sink, gas cooktop, dishwasher, and refridgerator/freezer. Although only a fifteen minute drive from the shops, restaurants, and small-town theaters of downtown Traverse City, the home offers a private, tranquil space for you and your friends and family to stay. Whether the sun is glimmering on the shores of northern Michigan or the fresh-water waves have been caught in ice, Martin House's location offers prime access to the raved-about food, farms, beaches, slopes, and trails of Traverse City. Within five-mile radius, you can find a lavender farm, winery, vineyard, u-pick berries, cider and doughnuts, small-town grocery store, and ice-cream shop.

Guest access

When renting Martin House you have access to the entire property, except the interior of the barn and the small Michigan basement.

The pictures don’t do this place justice - it’s so nice, and well decorated, sets the perfect vibe for your time in northern MI. A great value.

I have to be in agreement with all the other rave reviews for the Martin House. The house is impeccably clean, comfortable, and amazing. We did our own little exploration of the house to learn its history just as many others did. It really is convenient to downtown Traverse city -10 minute drive. The hiking/bike trail is literally right by the house for easy access. The fall colors were just changing and made great pics to share with family and friends. We came as a family of four with a 6 year old and a 4 year old. Marissa provided us with S'mores ingredients and a bottle of wine--it was perfect. There's a place down the road on the way to downtown if you want to pick up firewood for the firepit. The S'mores turned out great, and our kids had their first S'mores experience. Marissa was a perfect host and answered all our questions promptly. You won't be disappointed. This is our first Airbnb and first trip to Michigan--our experience was better than expected. This home and Marissa really set the bar.

Martin House was the perfect place to stay in TC! It's located close to downtown and all the wineries. The house is impeccably clean and decorated. The fire pit is the ideal way to end an evening. We'll definitely be staying there next time we head to TC!
