Relax in this spacious, charming guest apartment in Cambria's "Top of the World" neighborhood. It is minutes from Hearst Castle, downtown shopping, the beach, hiking and everything else Cambria Village and surrounding areas offer, including wine tasting, galleries and fine dinning. This detached upstairs suite has it all: a private entrance, panoramic views, gorgeous sunsets, abundant wildlife, out-door Jacuzzi, in-room coffee/tea maker, mini-refrigerator, wi-fi and served continental breakfast.

The space

Guests just love the privacy and surrounding beauty of our lovely, detached. studio guest apartment that borders on a forest preserve that stretches to the Pacific Ocean.

The bright, airy, sparkling clean, spacious suite is upstairs over the garage with very nice panoramic views of the surrounding forest and the ocean (several guests have mentioned the views are actually much better then the pictures). Very quite and comfortable it is a wonderful place to retreat from the everyday world. Entrance to a forested preserve with light hiking trails, is a five-minute walk from your door. From there you can hike to the ocean and wander along more 1.5 miles of unspoiled ocean-front beauty.

Birds, deer and other wildlife abound right outside your windows, throughout the property and the entire neighborhood. The corner table / work space surrounded by windows is perfect for that morning cup of coffee, using your laptop or writing in your journal while gazing out to the forest and ocean beyond or star gazing at night. Enjoy a relaxing Jacuzzi under a perfect starry sky. Take in the breathtaking sunsets with a glass of wine from the Jacuzzi or your sitting room. Enjoy a picnic lunch and watch the wildlife from our sunny Jacuzzi deck or in the forested (fenced in) backyard. There is new carpet, fresh cotton linens, extra towels, uncluttered space, a Tempur-pedic bed and a served continental breakfast.

We highly recommend taking note of the driving directions in the "Location" section of our listing for the best way to get here once you leave the highway. There are paved and unpaved roads in the neighborhood so please follow the written directions if you want to avoid unpaved roads. Also, we recommend arriving during daylight if possible as there is very little street lighting (but lots of starry night sky) in our neighborhood.

Guest access

Guests have a private entrance to the detached quest suite. There is off-street parking right in front of the house. Also note that the driveway is little steep so please be careful when walking on it especially in wet weather.

Interaction with guests

We value your privacy! We are home intermittently throughout the day and most nights. Feel free to knock on the door at anytime if you have questions or want some directions (or just to chat). Please let us know if there is anything we can do to make your stay better! We have provided our home phone number in your room. You will have a key to lock your door. We will bring you a continental breakfast at the time of your choice between 8 AM and 10 AM. There are various pamphlets and a binder in your room describing restaurants, wineries, places to go and things to go. There is also a small Hearst Castle library for those who want to know more about this national treasure.

Other things to note

Arrangements can be made for occasional use of our kitchen for microwave or light cooking and our laundry room for stays of three days or longer.

Beautiful, quiet setting with lovely views of deer, squirrels and the ocean. Lovely clean room with a fridge, fan, private entrance and bathroom. Close to Hearst Castle, elephant seals and nice beaches. We had a nice welcome and enjoyed our breakfast each morning overlooking the wildlife.

We had the most amazing stay at Stevan and Lori's place during our honeymoon. We had stayed several places on the west coast but Cambria was really special. Stevan and Lori were perfect hosts. The apartment was immaculately clean, cozy and well decorated. The hot tub was an extra special treat and we loved sitting and reading in there on a night, surrounded by the birds and cheeky squirrel that made an appearance now and again! The breakfasts were delicious and a lovely touch. It was lovely to sit and eat breakfast while watching the birds and deer on a morning. The apartment seems a little remote but is actually really close to Cambria and surrounded by lovely walking trails. It's actually really easy to get to and a great base to explore from. We would not hesitate to stay at Stevan and Lori's (URL HIDDEN) really was perfect - thank you for letting us share a part of your beautiful home and town!

If we could give 6 stars we would. Lori went above and beyond to make our stay so special, including a lift, excellent advice, tasty breakfast, great wildlife, not to mention such a comfortable room and bed!

A really lovely secluded spot with lovely hosts. We'll definitely stop by if we're driving that way again.

Superb. Stevan & Lori are great hosts and do their utmost to ensure you have a great stay. The studio is above a garage and as the property is on top of a hill you literally look out the window at treetops. Binoculars are thoughtfully supplied to watch the birds and wildlife dance in front of you. The room is very well appointed with a lovely modern bathroom. We state two nights and we're served a fantastic breakfast in our room on both mornings. They have really thought about how to make travellers welcome with bottles of water in a fridge, a Kurig coffee maker with Peets coffee. Outside the ocean is about a mile downhill through the forest, its uphill all the way back obviously, but fine if you are reasonably fit. We saw half a dozen deer in the woods and they stayed fairly close, which was lovely to see. Cambria is a great village, about a 2 mile drive away. It has no chain stores and no tat, every store is individual with different things to admire and buy. We'd highly recommend a stay here.
