I am not used to replying to guests comments, however, in this case, I have to clarify.
Personal belongings were not left in the house: everything left in the toilet and the fridge was only for the guests' satisfaction, including shampoo, shaving foam, soap (in the toilet), spices, butter, peanut butter and olive oil (in the kitchen). All these items are generally appreciated for short staying in which guests can save money rather than be buying new items generally left to waste afterward. I also find a contradiction that one toilet roll was not sufficient, after the comment of the toiletry left in the bathroom.
Anyway, I left clear indication to the guests to help themselves, means in case they didn't appreciate these products they could have thrown everything in the bin.
I also find over intimidating the phrase "a massive plank of wood which was just laying up against the wall". This is just the top of quality table bought to improve the furniture of the apartment for future guests. Unfortunately, I couldn't assemble it before Francine's staying and I made sure its position in the aisle did not affect the mobility in the apartment whatsoever :)
