Casa Kela is nestled in the quaint village of Pelada and a short walking distance to stunning beaches, a variety of restaurants and a well stocked mini-super. A short hike takes you to the unsurpassed surf and all of the activity of Guiones Beach. Although there are many things to discover a short walk or drive from Casa Kela, you will enjoy just hanging out at home lounging around swimming pool, making meals in the outdoor kitchen, or napping in the hammock under the palms.
Casa Kela is a spacious, safe and comfortable three bedroom home located in Playa Pelada. Just a short, 8 minute walk to the beach, Casa Kela is also conveniently located within walking distance to some of the areas best restaurants, like la Luna, El Chivo and El Pepperoni as well as La Bodega, a small local grocery that also serves coffee, smoothies and fresh baked goods. Playa Pelada is also the home of the best sunset spot within miles -Olga's- where you can catch all of the locals, expats and visitors who gather there for the nightly sunset ritual! If you are looking to surf, just a twenty minute walk along the beach, puts you on Guiones Beach where you can enjoy world class surf. By car or quad it will take only a few minutes.
Casa Kela has three bedrooms and two bathrooms. The master suite includes the biggest, deepest and most comfortable king-sized mattress ever, as well as a walk-in closet, walk in glass and tiled shower with a built in bench and double sink vanity. The master suite has a door that leads directly out to the pool for late night dips and is separated from the additional bedrooms by the living space, kitchen and long hallway.
The kitchen, stocked by the original owners who planned on retiring there, is fully loaded with every imaginable kitchen implement including a gas range and oven, full sized refrigerator and freezer, microwave and everything else you could possible need or want during your stay. And guess what? The tap water is very good for drinking! The open kitchen looks onto the living area which has a large couch, love seat and coffee table.
Off of the kitchen a hallway leads to a full bath and two bedrooms. Both equipped with ample closet space, dressers, cabinets and night stands. All of the bedrooms and living areas have ceiling fans and individual, modern air conditioning units. The bathroom has a soaking tub and shower.
There is a re-enforced, walk in safe to store your valuables while you are out and about. Although Casa Kela has never been compromised it is best to keep your valuable things, especially electronics, safe or with you at all times. Off of the living area a glass door leads you out into the pool area where you will find comfortable seating under a covered area, for reading and lounging, or in the sun, by our beautiful custom tile pool that includes a long lap lane for swimming as well as room to splash and play in. An outdoor gas grill, gas burner and sink, make preparing meals outside a breeze! There is also a huge outdoor shower and hammock to nap or read in. Our outdoor area is very near our next door neighbors outdoor area and is separated by a concrete wall. We ask that you respect the close proximity and stay mindful of noise levels. They are fantastic people who have lived there many years and can be quite helpful. They also help provide a level of security and inside knowledge unavailable to most visitors.
Also within walking distance on a gorgeous hiking trail that begins on the beach, is the river mouth where the Nosara River meets the sea. There is a lovely little "Tico" hangout there serving cold drinks and "Tipico" food. (Tico, is the name for the local people and tipico is used to describe local, typical food.) Horseback riding is available there, as is stand-up paddle boarding and river kayaking. There is so much to enjoy without ever having to drive from Casa Kela, but with a car you can explore Nosara proper where one can experience the real local culture, or head twenty miles north for stunning beaches, snorkeling and turtles, or south to The Nosara Yoga Institute, for daily classes and a variety of shops and restaurants to suit every palate and taste.
Guests have complete access to our entire casa.
Interaction with guests
Most of the time we will not be near the site, but we do have a management company to look after Casa Kela when we are away. There is also a gardener that comes twice a week and once a week pool service as well. We are always available by phone, text and email.
Other things to note
We can not stress enough the importance of refraining from flushing anything down the toilet. All paper (tp) must be thrown in the garbage can.
The water supply may be turned off at times to conserve water during the dry season. When this happens it is usually in the evening and through the night. In the dry season February-April make sure you have ample water jugs full of water for rinsing, etc. just use the tap water! Pool water can be used for flushing toilets if needed.
- It is absolutely imperative that nothing is flushed in the toilets! No toilet paper, feminine products-NOTHING. Throw all used TP in the trash. The septic systems here are very fragile.
Also, the pool filter basket needs to be emptied daily and the pool should be skimmed.
In an effort to conserve energy, if you decide to use the air conditioning, please turn it off whenever you leave the house.
