Self check-in

In a quiet location a few minutes walk from Welshpool town centre, the guest suite on the 2nd floor of my Victorian town house offers a comfortable private space for 1-3 people. There are 2 bedrooms (one with a superkingsize bed and the other with a single bed) and your own shower room. The single bedroom doubles up as a sitting room with a TV and comfy chairs. Breakfast is included - help yourself in the dining room on the ground floor. There is secure off-street parking on my drive.

The space
It's just me and my 2 cats living in my Victorian end terrace house. It’s a comfortable, relaxing place to be, styled with a mix of modern and vintage, upcycled and antique, with original art works and treasures from my travels dotted about.

I look forward to welcoming guests to use the parts of the house I don't occupy, plus parking on my private driveway which can accommodate a number of cars.

Entering the house through the front door, which I rarely use, you have sole use of the dining room on the ground floor and the whole of the top (second) floor, which consists of:

- a spacious double bedroom with a superking size bed, with an orthopaedic memory foam topper mattress. This bedroom is accessed through a dressing room with plenty of clothes storage, dressing table and a hairdryer;
- a single bedroom with a proper single bed (not a sofa bed!) plus two comfy armchairs and a smart TV.
- your own shower room with basin, WC and shower with shower gel, shampoo and conditioner;

Please note I don’t let either bedroom separately so you have the whole top floor to yourself. I don’t want to share a bathroom with strangers and wouldn’t want my guests to either!

Both bedrooms have hypoallergenic bedding, fluffy towels and tea / coffee making facilities.

In addition to the TV in the single bedroom, there is a "take one / leave one" bookshelf, plus some coffee-table type books to read during your some games and a bluetooth speaker.

You can help yourself to breakfast in the dining room which has a 5 star Food Hygiene Rating. There is a fridge freezer, toaster, microwave, kettle, crockery and cutlery.
I provide gluten free muesli and porridge, wholemeal bread, butter, milk, yoghurt and fruit.

There are sandwich bags and tinfoil if you are walkers and want to make a packed lunch and fill your flask for a day’s walking.

If you prefer not to eat out in the evening, you can pick up a takeaway or something to heat in the microwave and have dinner in the dining room. Please note this is not a kitchen, there is no oven, hob or sink.

You are welcome to use the seating areas in the gravelled side garden. There are fruit and veg beds, wildlife ponds and planting to attract insects. Guest access to the garden is through the front door and driveway gates.

Please ask if you have any questions before booking and I'll be happy to help. Thank you.

Guest access
You have sole use of the top floor, the dining room and shared use of driveway parking and the side garden with me and the cats.

I respect guests’ privacy and ask please that you do the same of mine. My private areas are the kitchen living room, downstairs WC, all of the first floor, plus the rear courtyard.

Other things to note
Please be aware that there are two sets of steep stairs, typical of a Victorian house, and the windows on the top floor are low. Whilst the stairs have a handrail and the windows lock, with the keys kept in them for fire safety, for these reasons I can only host guests who have a child travelling with them aged 12 or above.

Similarly, for anyone with mobility issues, I know the stairs may be challenging so feel it’s important to point this out.

I’m very mindful that not everyone likes cats and/ or may be allergic to them. They know they aren’t allowed upstairs into the guest rooms. They have plenty of other comfy spots for a snooze!

Neighbourhood highlights

My house is in a little conservation area of mostly Victorian and Edwardian homes, with a 5-6 minute walk into town where there are plenty of places to eat, drink and shop.

There are three supermarkets in town: Tesco, Aldi and Morrisons.A number of cafes in town do a great cooked breakfast, plus lunches and snacks throughout the day.

I always recommend The Old Bakehouse, a little bar serving real ales, craft beers and ciders. You can take your own food to enjoy with a pint or order a (really good) Indian takeaway from Chilli's over the road to pick up and eat at there.

Just found the corner, The Cornstore is the best restaurant in town, with a big menu of locally sourced dishes.

From the town centre, you can walk through the deer park to Powis Castle and Gardens, stroll along the canal or enjoy the historic buildings housing plenty of eateries and boutique-style shops.

Offa's Dyke path can be joined at Buttington Bridge, just a few miles away from the house and Glyndwr's Way runs through the town centre, so Ty'r Bugail is an ideal stopover for anyone walking those routes, as well as the Severn Way.

My work: Part time
Hi, I'm Georgia, the owner of Ty'r Bugail, a Victorian town house I have been renovating for the last few years. I work part time, often from home. Outside of work, I love to potter in my garden, check out the charity shops, upcycle furniture, cook, go to a yoga class or out for a walk. I'm an eco-conscious person, encouraging wildlife into my garden even if it eats my veg! I enjoy hosting like-minded guests and aim to provide with a restful, comfortable stay.
