Welcome to our home :-) We hope you will enjoy our beach-themed house, our relaxing hot-tub, and central air/heat. We have a great location as we are 5 minutes to the LAX Airport, 10 minutes to Silicon Beach hot-spots, 20 minutes to world famous Venice Beach, and a short walk to great local restaurants, grocery stores, & coffee shops (3 Starbucks!). Our place is good for friends, couples, solo travelers, and conference attendees. Complimentary beverages upon arrival and breakfast in the morning.
The Tropical room is a beautiful and comfortable space. It is equipped with all the basics, as well as original artwork from local artists in Ensenada, Mexico.
We also have another room listed on Airbnb, the Coastal room. If you are traveling with others, we can accommodate 1-2 additional individuals in that room as well. Free free to check out that listing too (https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/14401988).
We have central air conditioning and heat - to keep you cool in the summer and warm in the winter!
The bathroom is shared. My wife and I leave for work by 7:30am, leaving you ample time to use the bathroom after we leave. If you have an early day, just let us know and we can coordinate our times.
The kitchen is open for you to use. There is shelf space in the refrigerator labeled for guests, and we are a block away from a great grocery store--Trader Joes, so you can save time and money making your own food if you'd like. Feel free to use our 6 burner grill in the backyard if you want too. We do ask that you put any dishes you use in the dishwasher.
Laundry can be done in our washer and dryer free of charge. We know how important it is to have clean clothes when traveling!
The backyard is an open space especially great for evenings. We have a state-of-the-art hot tub that feels great at the end of a full day at work or sightseeing. We love taking a bowl of dessert or a glass of wine with us too--just no food and be careful not to spill :-)
Please understand that we have a policy of no smoking (tobacco or marijuana) or use of illegal substances at our home (both inside your room or in our yard). Light to moderate alcohol consumption is acceptable.
The house is equipped with high-quality keyless entry on both the front and back doors for your safety and convenience. We will provide you with the guest code so you can enter if we are not home.
Interaction with guests
We love meeting new people, and we've done a lot of traveling ourselves so we enjoy getting to know who you are and what brought you to LA. However, we know each person, couple and family are unique, so we will respect your desired level of interaction. We are also passionate about our work in the hospital helping people heal, so please forgive us if we are in our room doing work or if we are exhausted and go to bed before you do. Nonetheless, we are your hosts so if you have questions please ask and let us know if there's anything we can do to make your stay more enjoyable.
Other things to note
Parking is good in our neighborhood. Just know there is street-sweeping on Wednesday's from 10am-2pm on our side of the street, and Thursday's from 10am-2pm on the other side of the street. You do NOT want to get a parking ticket in Los Angeles. Trust us!

My name is Justin and there is something exhilarating to me about being somewhere I've never been, doing things I've never dreamed. This is why I love traveling. It always opens my eyes to see the world in a new way through the people I meet, the sights I see, and the memories I make.
This passion for exploring and expanding my understanding has led me to over 20 countries around the world and over 30 states in the U.S. I've done lots of things on my travels like eating squid pizza in South Korea, running in the original Olympic stadium in Greece, and tubing in massive caves in Belize. I also traveled across the United States for six months on my own, covering 18 states and 11,000 miles while writing 400 pages in my journal about all the amazing people I met and crazy things I did--like spend a night in an abandoned warehouse with a homeless man I'd become friends with.
I've spent the past seven years training to be a hospital chaplain, helping people heal from the spiritual wounds and emotional pain resulting from illness and the end of life. While training in graduate school I met the most amazing and hard-working woman in the world, and I made the best decision of my life to marry her. That was three years ago. She loves to travel too, and we've been to Taiwan, Italy, France and Mexico and many other places since we got married. Now we are both working and we recently purchased a home in West Los Angeles. We want to share our calm and cozy home with fellow travelers who need a place to relax at the end of a full day, who enjoy a good story or two, and who are passionate about what they do.
