Other things to note

A few additional notes about our rustic home:
- The original 4 room home was built in 1947. Kitchen, bathroom and porch bedroom have been more recently added on.
- Windows and heat pump are new
- Floor in the small bedroom is unfinished pine, covered with good quality throw rugs
- Back/porch bedroom floor is painted plywood
- There are some cosmetic issues in line to be repaired: Ceiling in the carport, one chipped tile in the kitchen, and back deck.
- Kitchen appliances are not new but function well
- Shower/bath is a clawfoot tub with shower converter. We love it and hope you do too.
- To those very sensitive to smell we do want to make you aware of a potential concern: While we do have a strict no smoking policy in the house, our previous renters, until 2 years ago, did smoke in the house without our knowledge. We have done everything we can think of short of tearing out the drywall to remedy the odor; we painted the entire interior last year and have washed floor to ceiling. We have had one complaint that there remains an odor, particularly in the front living room. We are continuing to explore solutions.

Sometimes you just need to get away from it all, and Meghan's bungalow is the perfect place. It is a casual and comfortable house that has a kind of quirky charm. Damascus delights the soul in many ways, and if you love hiking and biking, and if you love seeing the stars at night, hearing the birds, and watching the first light of day appear over the mountains, then Meghan's place is for you. It is not fancy, but it is indeed homey......a sweet mountain retreaat.

We went to Damascus for my wife's birthday with a couple of friends. We were able to bring our boat along because South Holston lake is pretty close to the house so me and my buddy were able to take advantage of some good small mouth fishing while our wives took on some shopping. The creeper trial isn't new to us, we've rode it many times and it is a very fun experience. We did the white top to Damascus ride and stopped and ate the World Famous Chocolate Cake at the Creeper Trail Café... "Highly Recommend". As far as the House, it had everything we needed. A cozy little place that we could call home during the evening. We played games at the kitchen table, had some wine from the Abingdon Winery.. "Also Highly Recommend".. , Watched some TV and just chilled on the front porch. We were visited by some Chipmunks every morning and even made friends with a white cat that looks as though its smiling. Meghan kept an eye on us, not an overseeing eye but a concerned eye for our happiness. She checked on us several times to make sure we had what we needed and that everything was good. She's a great Hostess. She even left us some coffee to enjoy on the front porch as the sun was coming up. If you're looking for a place to stay that's near the creeper trail and Damascus then this is your place. You'll be happy here.

Meghan is a wonderful hostess. She responds promptly to all messages/questions; and sent a welcome message when we checked-in, offering to help with any of our needs. She goes out of her way to make your stay comfortable and enjoyable. We had extra guests, Meghan made sure that we had more than enough towels, quilts, blankets, pillows, and kitchen tableware for all. The complimentary chocolates & coffee were much appreciated; as was the information provided about services, restaurants, etc in the area...including maps. Thank you, Meghan! If I am ever in Damascus again, I will definitely be contacting you to stay at clean and comfortable Hollyfield Hideaway!
