About this listing

My place is good for solo adventurers. This room is a shared room. Not exactly your typical hostel room. All the beds are real beds, not bunk beds. I run a B&B operation - so you get a full breakfast in the morning as well as access to refrigerator and kitchen. There are bike racks in the backyard. There are local historical, scientific and cultural attractions right on the island plus it's a great home-base for day trips in the Lake Champlain area.
Burlington and Montreal close by.

Carol's home on Isle La Motte is warm, welcoming, clean and a lovely place to spend some time in the Lake Champlain area. Carol is a wonderful host that made us feel at home and whose interest in poetry and ideas made for interesting breakfast conversation. We will definitely stay with Carol next time we are at Isle La Motte.

The schoolhouse was a great place to stay! Carol was very welcoming and even let us make a salad from her garden for dinner. The breakfast was delicious too! We recommend this place to anyone coming anywhere near Isle La Motte!

The old school house is a great place to stay. It clean, it's comfortable, and you can't beat the company. Carol is a fantastic hostess. She would leave you alone if that's your wish, up I encourage to spend some time talking to her. Don't let difference in age keep you away. She was a councilor in NJ public schools, so she converse with you on anything. She's well educated yet very approachable. She stocks just about everything in her kitchen and willing to share most of it. Her little garden will provide you with plants of salad fixings. Loved it there and hope to visit it again in the future.

Can't say enough great things about Carol! First the place is just so special. One of a kind and loved the fact that it was an actual preserved old school! The breakfast was soooo lovely. So many options and Carol definitely aims to please. But most of all I loved our time together. Sharing stories and learning about each other. Carol is such a breath of fresh air and has a wonderful outlook on life. We will definitely cross paths again. Thank you Carol!!

This is a real gem of a place. Carol is a really wonderful host. You can tell she just genuinely enjoys getting to know people and she goes the extra mile to make her space feel welcoming to visitors. Everything was very clean and well thought out (little things: a basket of fresh wash cloths in the bathroom, a fridge to keep your groceries, warm banana bread muffins in the morning!) and she was easy to coordinate my arrival with. I enjoyed some great conversations with her in her big open kitchen/gathering area and she shared some cycling tips for good spots to see around Isle La Motte. The setting is very quiet and peaceful, and she has a nice garden in the back (I hope to return to see it in full summer abundance someday!). It's the perfect oasis if you're looking for a weekend island retreat or passing through on your way to Montreal. I can't recommend this place enough, and I definitely plan to come back.

Carol is a wonderful host. We chatted we her and learned a lot. She made sure we had all we need for breakfast even if we leaf very early. Her muffins was delicious. We would like to go back and have more time to visit.

This school house turned epic bread and breakfast is quite an amazing place. Really quaint, historic and beautiful! All that, and nestled in the beautiful Vermont just down the road from lake Champlain. Highly recommended!

I'm an energy therapist (EFT) Love to garden. Love to write and read. Love to bake scones and muffins. Love to laugh (was a theater clown a longggggggg time ago). So, you may get a poem with your breakfast scone and you may get fresh berries or salad from my garden. And always an interested ear.
