Welcome to our 100 year old house which was self-renovated by artists. It's located in a quiet residential area in Kameoka which is surrounded by peaceful mountains. It's also easy to reach Kyoto(11mins from Arashiyama by rapid train) but has unique sights of real local life. Huge rice fields, local Izakaya and people who don't get used to foreigners. You will experience the real atmosphere of Japanese local life. Six bicycles are free to use. Explore our town!

Very special. Lovely traditional house in a small town 45 mins or so by far or an easy train ride from Kyoto. If you want to get under the skin of life in Japan, I stress of staying in some soulless hotel or a recently built condo or apartment, and want to get a short step away…

No-Mu’s house is spacious and beautifully decorated. There are a lot of thoughtful and sweet things like the candies, coffee beans, the (Hidden by Airbnb) Home and the portable router. However, it is a bit away from the city so do expect some traveling time.

This place is a dream. Perfect way to end our Japan trip removed from the hustle and bustle of the tourist season in Kyoto. Beautiful space, amenities, and amazing host. I would love to come back and do an actual artist retreat here. Highly recommended!

We are a project team "no-mu" to bring innovation to this rustic town on the outskirt of Kyoto. This 100-year-old traditional house was renovated by Eikoh Tanaka, an artist who was born and grew up in the house. The area used to have a historic atmosphere with the rows of old…
