Our house is a display of Qing Dynasty craftsmanship at its finest. This stone, wood, and brick home has been standing proud for nearly 150 years. Our careful renovation has ensured the continued life and enjoyment of the house in its original beauty.
Our place has been designed with an aura of peace in mind. Come here for a break from the Chinese city life and to absorb the countryside around you. Read, write, meditate, and be free in a welcoming setting.
While preserving the authentic architecture, we've made the upgrades that are necessary for clean and comfortable living. A hot shower, fast internet, and an eye for design in the details.
Our 2 houses has 5 bedrooms available for booking, each with a large bed that easily sleeps two guests.
Each bedroom has its own private, adjoined meditation and study room in which an extra sleeping arrangement can be arranged if desired.
Guests will share a common bathroom and common toilet room.
Our 5 bedrooms are listed on separate pages on Airbnb (numbered 1-5), each with its own calendar of availability.
Fresh and healthy vegetarian meals are prepared daily (lunch and dinner) by a local woman from our village. The cost of meals is 25RMB (children 10RMB) per person per meal.
Breakfast is free and you may help yourself when you wake up - an assortment of local fruits, oatmeal, eggs, coffee and tea.
Interaction with guests
Maarten, Eric, and Hua set up this airbnb together. These days, They are often away from the village.
Haibo is currently taking care of the house, and will be present daily to interact with guests. He is an angel of a human being, always extremely caring, trustworthy, and respectful. Haibo has been diligently studying English with us since 2013 and feels blessed to have the opportunity to build his confidence by interacting with guests. Be patient with him, and rest assured that Haibo is doing all that he can to make you feel welcome and taken care of as a special guest to his village.
With Haibo's level of English in mind, please try not to ask too many or too complicated of questions before booking. As soon as you make a booking (Airbnb will not allow it beforehand) we will email you our guidebook containing all of the information that you will need to survive and thrive in the village. It will answer most any questions that you may have, including information about arriving at our place. Again, to make Haibo's job easier, please wait until you receive our guidebook before sending him many questions.
Other things to note
Although we have designed our home as a place to find peace among the fast pace of China, please remember that we are located in a rural village in a developing country. Willingness to be adaptable and respectful are important in being able to enjoy your stay.
Also, this is not a hotel or hostel. In saying that, we really hope people will feel at home, but we also appreciate guests helping out, taking initiative, and being independent, as this is the way we have designed this experience.
Most importantly, we ask our guests to be respectful to the locals and to the natural environment in the village.
And with respect to staying at our house, we have a few expectations.
Guests who have enjoyed their time in our house and village are:
In general we hope for our guests to have peaceful and restful stays, observing the village and scenery.
Our caretaker (Haibo) and cook/cleaner (Xiaomo) are always giving their best efforts to keep our house in great shape and our guests happy. However, this is our home, not a full-service hotel, so please also try to be an independent guest and help keep our place clean.
Enjoy and feel at home!
