This lovely, spacious, duplex, Craftsman home is just about as centrally located as one could get. Sitting right on the bustling Hawthorne Blvd our guests have everything they could possibly need and want from a Portland visit without walking more than 5 blocks. From the historic Baghdad theater, countless bars and restaurants, shopping boutiques, amazing coffee shops, several food cart pods, grocery stores, bodegas, and very entertaining people watching!
We invite you ALL to come stay!
This is a beautiful, fully restored 1912 Craftsman duplex. With freshly refinished hardwoods and bright white with bursts of color all around. The space is welcoming and has a very happy, calm vibe. The decor is minimalist, mid century modern, funky, comfortable, and oh so Portland. It was important to us to create a space that we would want to spend time in. We spent a lot of time going to antique stores and flea markets picking out just the right touches. From brass bedside lamps, vintage oriental rugs, unique wall art, to little pieces here and there to add to the character. For maximum comfort, all the the towels, bedding, beds, and pillows are brand new with the most luxurious softness one can buy. I really know you'll feel right at home here!
We are very conscientious about noise so other than light movement on occasion from our little cats or us you should be quite comfortable.

Full private access via front and back door. The backyard is still a work in progress but there is always wonderful seasonal plant life all around to make you feel lost in a secret garden. There is a picnic table, wooden bench, and chairs to sit and chill all day long if you like. Also there are two charcoal grills to use. And maybe you'll even catch us grilling up some dinner - it truly is one of the best ways to cook. The huge cedar tree in the backyard is not only great for shading on a bright sunny day but is also home to sometimes 7 or more Anna's Hummingbirds. They are tiny but are sometimes easy to spot with their bright red heads and emerald green body. I feed them year round so they are visible 365 days a year.
Interaction with guests
My partner and I live here on the property so are close by via phone or email. And when we are away I have a few helpers on speed dial so there is always someone close by. Thanks mom!!

* Quiet hours are from 10pm to 9am weekdays and 11pm to 9am on weekends. Please be mindful of noise when coming and going from the house all days and times. This mostly pertains to hanging out outside because of our neighbors. For the most part we can not hear our guests downstairs.

*Please no fire in the house. The fireplace is for the vintage electric faux fire only. This includes candles.
*When using the BBQ please be mindful of the house and trees. Before use make sure everyone knows where the fire extinguisher is. It is located on the wall adjacent to the laundry machines by back door.

*We have the place stocked with dvds, books, magazines, games, and more! Please only leave with what you brought so that the next guests can enjoy them.
*When leaving the property please be sure that all doors and windows and securely closed and locked. This is a safe neighborhood but we're still in the city.
From Dec 25, 2017 - Jan 01, 2018 the minimum stay is 4 nights.
After retiring from a decade in nursing I found that I missed caring for people. Although I have moved to a more creative career path I look forward to pampering my guests. Whether that means I am there for you in person or behind the scenes I hope you leave feeling perfectly happy with your stay.
