A cute room with a comfy full size bed perfect for 2 in a bungalow in a very amazing neighborhood 15 minutes from downtown Detroit, 2 minutes from a shopping district and 5 minutes from water access. It is good for couples, solo adventurers, business travelers, families (with kids), big groups, and furry friends (dogs, no cats please).

The space

A quaint room in a cute house with hardwood floors, minimal furniture and the smell of fresh flowers daily.

Guest access

Guests have access to: the entire first floor common areas: living room, kitchen, dining room, bedroom, bathroom; backyard, back patio and front porch. There will be an empty cabinet for any food you care to purchase as well as an empty section in the refrigerator. Guests are welcome to use any dishes and appliances. There is a washer and dryer on the premises available to those staying 7 or more nights.

Interaction with guests

As an introvert, I'll be around but in my own space. I will meet the guests the night they arrive to show them around the home and assist with any questions about the area and city.

Other things to note

Guests may request cooked meals. As a baker and chef, I cook daily and this is a great bonus to travelers that enjoy home cooking.

Had an amazing stay with Garnet. Your room will smell like cake all the time! She's a working chef, so something will always be cooking. (I even got to try her carrot-Apple cake and it was the best carrot cake I've ever had!) Her dog Allie is sweet, has a mean bark but just wants to be petted. Overall, good location - like 2 minutes to Grosse Pointe and 25 minutes to Campus Martius.

That bed tho! So comfy! Very quiet neighborhood and Garnet's baking makes the mornings delightful.

Great place to stay if you only stay a few days. Clean bathroom and bedroom. She makes really good cupcakes so you might want to pay her to make you some. It's sorta cold in the room, if you prefer warmer temperature just ask for a heater. She doesn't have microwave so you will have to warm your food on the stove. She has two big dogs so if you have issue with odors then be aware. One of the dogs made a big mess outside my room the first night I was there and she barks quite a bit. But after I addressed it, the host cleaned it up and keep the dog away. If you cook then pay attention because the bigger dog can knock it off and steal your food. The water in bathtub drained really slow but she got it fixed so you should be ok during your stay. It's good value for traveling for work with a budget but it might not suit you if you go with your other half on a vacation.

Thank you for your review. It seems as if you were gravely dissatisfied with the space. I will note your advice and hopefully make it that much better for the next guest. Safe travels! ❤

Garnet, was an amazing host. She was extremely welcoming and helpful. The home is beautiful and she has two dogs that are really friendly. The bathroom was also completely mine. Garnet owns a bakery, so on occasion I woke up to the delightful aroma of cakes baking. The bed is the most comfortable bed I have ever slept in. This was undoubtedly the best stay I have ever had in Detroit because of having a comfortable and safe place to sleep.

The house is extremely nice. Great furniture. Fully equipped kitchen. The bed is huge and really comfortable. She provides a booklet of information about the apartment procedures and information for tourists about Detroit, and it was actually really useful for me, I used it several times. Garnet is very pleasant and unobtrusive. Her two dogs are both really nice.
