The Green Room is in The Old Schoolhouse of Isle LaMotte which is on a Lake Champlain Island halfway between Burlington, VT and Montreal. It's a perfect home-base for day trips in either direction. Quiet and rural - you can see the stars at night and sunsets over the lake. Lots to do for cyclists and motorists. I have 2 more listings for the Old Schoolhouse which can accommodate 18 in all.

The space

It's an old schoolhouse so there's plenty of charm and the opportunity to meet other interesting people staying in the other 2 rooms. You have a small kitchen space as well as access to a guest refrigerator and the main kitchen itself. I offer free salad from the garden and sale of pizza and pasta supplies from my P&P pantry.

We loved, loved, loved the old schoolhouse! The space was clean, charming, and comfortable, and Carol was kind and welcoming. I would not hesitate to recommend this spot.

Carol is a great host. We loved the stay and her hospitality. The place was very spacious and clean. She went out of her way and shared toys with our kids, let my 3 year old play piano and feed the hens. She shared many tips with us about the place and things to do. Highly recommended.

Really fun place to stay which made discovering the Champlain islands extra special. Lovely, quiet, remote area, near interesting places. Carol was a fun and friendly host, and the breakfast was much more than we expected! Very generous and yummy. The room and bathroom had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. October was a perfect time of year to visit on our way to Canada — we would like to return.

While I ended up not being able to stay at this lovely location, my communications with the hostess,Carol, were outstanding and understanding. I hope to stay at the Old Schoolhouse one day very soon. I was excited about trying the fabulous homemade scones!

Carol is a wonderful, hard-working, caring hostess. She was fascinating to talk to and does a great job with her property. Isle LaMotte and the other Lake Champlain islands constitute a beautiful, peaceful landscape -- no tourist-trap nonsense! Check out the nearby St. Anne's shrine (and Samuel de Champlain monument) and the Goodsell Ridge Fossil Preserve. Have fun -- Tom (retired journalist), Carol (clinical psychologist), and Sue (budding health-food mogul).

Carol is a wonderful host. She is very welcoming and engaging, and we even shared dinner together. The Old School House is full of charm. We stayed one night on our bike tour around Lake Champlain. Our visit was the most memorable on our trip. Great place to visit if you are traveling solo, have a group or family or just enjoy the company of other travelers. The adjacent County Store is fairly bare-bones and does not stock fresh fruit and vegetables (although the owner is very interesting and delightful, full of knowledge about just about everything).

I'm an energy therapist (EFT) Love to garden. Love to write and read. Love to bake scones and muffins. Love to laugh (was a theater clown a longggggggg time ago). So, you may get a poem with your breakfast scone and you may get fresh berries or salad from my garden. And always an interested ear.
