The Location. Do you like camping under an open sky; enjoying a moment around a campfire; finding a quiet place to be; listening to the swallows and swifts flying overhead; watching the bats foraging at dusk. This is a place to enjoy creation and reconnect..

We are very close to the Dartmoor National Park and all its beauty. Also not far away from the wonderful South Devon beaches.

The site offers a good place for couples, solo adventurers, families (with kids), and furry friends (pets).

This is a new and developing story very much in the early days.
We have lived here as a family since 1997, completing the barn conversion in recent years. It has been a desire to share the large space with others who also like the peace and quiet of the countryside.
This is the first year of testing the waters to see if anyone else would like to share a dream.

My aim is to provide an unsophisticated but beautiful camping place to stay. Away from the busy main stream campsites and associated noise.

A small number of camping pitches in discrete areas for people wishing to stay overnight as they pass through Beautiful Devon or for those wishing to stay for longer periods and explore Dartmoor; The South Hams and South Devon.

ARRIVAL AND DEPARTURE TIMES: These can be flexible depending on availability.

Easy access to the A38 dual carriageway (less than 5 minutes away) gives those traveling to and from the SW of England good access to Plymouth Port and Exeter Airport.

Easy parking on site.

Guest access

Guests are welcome to explore the garden and surrounding bye-ways. -There is seating in various places, please avail yourselves.
-Feel free to wander around the garden. There are lots of byways to explore.
There is a BBQ available and a fire pit for cooking in garden etc.

Interaction with guests

A warm welcome is extended with an expectation of mutual respect for each other and the surrounding wildlife.

I interact with guests as much or as little as they request. There is plenty of space to be separate.

I can provide information on the local area and make suggestions on where you may like to visit.

Feel free to wander the grounds, use the BBQ etc. We are wildlife friendly place, you will be in the Countryside.

Other things to note

The house at Bulland was built as an eco-friendly house. The water is heated in the summer time by Solar hot water panels which then store heat in a large heat store. In the winter our wood burning stove tops up the heat store temperature for hot water in the house. We have no other form of heating and have minimised our energy requirement with the use of significant insulation! There is an electric shower available in the downstairs toilet for those few occasions in the winter for a hotter shower.

We are a family so there are other people in the house sharing the gift that we've been given.

Beautiful, remote and isolated enough that you can forget about the outside world. Would definitely recommend. A toilet and shower to use that are clean and close by. Roger is kind and helpful and showed us routes to take in the national park, even lending us a map. If I'm ever in the area I'll happily stay again.

Lovely little place to camp. We stayed with our dog in the orchard surrounded by blossoming pear trees. There is a fire pit/BBQ area where you can cook and keep warm by the fire. I would definetly recommend to anyone looking for a quiet place to camp near Dartmoor.

We had a lovely stay at Roger's place. Very quiet, peaceful area. Lots of nice walks along country lanes and bridleways and not much through traffic. We had our two dogs with us and they got on well with Roger's little dog. There were no horses in the neighbouring field during our visit so we were allowed to use it for the dogs which was great.

On arrival, Roger made us feel very welcome. He offered us food and jumped up to help us with our rent which was so appreciated, especially as it started to rain. We will definitely stay again. Thank you!
