We are a 10-15 minute drive to The US Naval Academy and beautiful historic Annapolis (aka: "Naptown" or "DTA") and Annapolis Harbor, and a 30 minute drive to or from either BWI/Marshall Airport or Washington DC (leave more time if you're taking the Metro into DC!). For the big local events like Navy games and boat shows a shuttle bus is often available from nearby Annapolis High School. A private bath & living room are part of the guest suite. One small, hypoallergenic dog lives here.
The private guest area was built to accommodate occasional US Naval Academy Midshipmen that we have sponsored over the years. It includes a bedroom with two comfy twin beds, a spacious living room with desk, flat panel TV with Xfinity, AppleTV, and DVD player, and full bath (shower). The living room has a full-size pull-out sofa-bed, and another pull-out single, both with hybrid mattresses, to provide comfortable sleeping for groups of up to 5 guests.
The guest suite has its own living space (somewhat less if one or both of the pull-outs are made-up). There's no land-line here, but we have a network-extender to boost the cell signal. The back deck is great for coffee on nice mornings or wine in the evening (that doesn't fall under: "parties or events"!) Guests are welcome to a cup of coffee from the Keurig in the main kitchen.
Interaction with guests
We both work during the week and are in and out in the evenings and weekends, but at least one of us is almost always available by cell phone if not at home.
Other things to note
The spacious desk and high-speed internet access makes the private guest living room perfect for short-term work assignments in Annapolis, Baltimore, or Washington DC.
Gale and I live in the suburbs of Annapolis - home of the US Naval Academy and historic downtown Annapolis. It's a great place to visit for sightseeing, shopping, dining and cocktails... It's between Baltimore and Washington DC. We both have a lifetime of experiences and can almost always find something in common with anyone we meet!
