My home is in the Historic Sugar Hill area of Hamilton Heights in Manhattan. It's 200 yards from the A (express), B, C and D (express) subway lines. Via Express trains, you are 15 minutes from midtown, 20 minutes to downtown! The apartment is a huge 800SF 2 full bedroom, Sunny, quiet and welcoming home, with SEVEN windows, with Southern and Eastern Exposures. Views of City College, and amazing sunsets! . It is good for couples, solo adventurers, business travelers, or vacationers!

The space

Newly added for the summer of 2017 are 2 brand new AC units totalling 24,000 BTU's (12,000 each in the living room and the main bedroom) with energy saving timers.

Sundrenched, with southern and eastern exposures, this giant corner "L" shaped apartment has SEVEN windows!! There is a window in every room (2 in the living room, with one a southern and one eastern exposure), and one in the bathroom!

The apartment, on the forth floor of this elevator building (elevator rebuild in the spring of 2017), was recently renovated and added all new hardwood oak floors, and a modern slate floor in the kitchen. 3 Giant closets (4th to remain occupied my host) and 9 ½ foot ceilings make it feel even bigger, and closets helps enormously with unseen storage

Rent includes heat, hot water, gas, electric, cable, air conditioning, wireless internet and outgoing phone to the Continental US, Canada, Puerto Rico, and Mexico. No incoming calls.

Pets MAY will be considered. NO SMOKING.

Amenities include mission style queen sized bed, Knoll credenza, a huge Pompanoosuc Mills 6 drawer dresser in the main bedroom and a brand new, high end queen sized futon, a full closet and lot's of storage in the guest bedroom. Apartment also includes a collapsible full sized table with 4 hard wood folding chairs built in, Sony stereo receiver, Bose Satellite stereo speaker system, a Yamaha CD player, Sony Blu-Ray player, HD TV, a Roku 3, a Brand New Schwinn stationary bike and much more!

You'd be 100 yards from a brand new Foodtown grocery store, a pharmacy, dry cleaner, laundry and 3 x 24 hour delis on St Nicholas Ave, all while maintaining a building on a quiet street! Guests are asked to maintain an outside mailbox rental (PO Box).

Pets MAY will be considered. We can talk, but after bad experiences, I'm currently leaning away from pets. NO SMOKING.

Richard was the most amazing host we could have asked for- he was kind, fast in responding and very available. The house was fantastic!! Super clean, great neighbourhood and a wonderful price for the size and location. Don't wait on booking his place because it's really great. In 15 min you are in midtown with the express trains and the area in Harlem is really cute. The street one down is a historical landmark! If you're going to New York, make sure you stay ar Richard's!

English version, Cleanliness We did a 3 month trip to this apartment. Upon arrival in the apartment, the floor was dirty and dusty. The dust was visible in all the rooms of the dwelling as soon as one sat on the sofa for example. One even felt irritation in the nose the first few days. The sheets that were given to us to sleep had only dust, we had to leave on the balcony several weeks to shake the sheet in order to leave a part. The shower had yellow traces in the tub, it did not feel like showering. The carpet that was present in one of the two rooms was not even washed by the owner when we arrived while there was a vacuum cleaner in the apartment. We removed it and put it in a closet and even when we removed it from dust and sorts of pebbles falling from the carpet. In the bathroom, the owner left us a cupboard just emptied, not washed by the latter (shaving hair on the shelves). Accuracy on accommodation The photos taken by the owners were clear and precise. Apart from the windows of the accommodation which did not close or hardly (they asked us to use a stick to close the kitchen window). Arrival and communication Upon arrival, the owner explained very briefly the information about the apartment. However over the stay we noticed a host who changed their mood very quickly. It can go from a sympathetic message and just after getting carried away while face to face it is welcoming and listening. For communication it is reactive and very effective which is a very positive point if one encounters a problem. Location Location very well connected by the main lines of Manhattan located not even 2 minutes from the entrance of the building.

Response from Richard:
My response to my former guests comments will be brief as I'd originally simply sent them a private message with my disgust and kept my public distain to a minimum, but now, with their utter lies in their review, I feel it is important that others know that they left my home more filthy than squatters would ever leave a dwelling and that their disrespect toward myself and my home is enough to warn others to steer clear of them. I was originally not going down this road! As for cleanliness...I'd spent 2 full days preparing for their arrival. All floors were swept, vacuumed, and mopped, every inch of the apartment was dusted and wiped down. The oven and refrigerator cleaned. All bedding was washed and placed on the beds just prior to their arrival, as were all of the towels, back up sheets and blankets (however, as these guests used each set of sheets and towels, they would leave the dirty ones in plastic bags and place them in the closets for me to find after their checkout). My apartment was immaculate upon their arrival! Arrival and communication...Upon their arrival (which was 11:30pm vs the 10pm listed in my posting), I remained with them for 1.5 hours, until I was able to explain everything to them, including the subway system, how they could get to school and ever single thing about the apartment and NYC that I thought might be helpful. I liked helping out the college students! My mood quickly changed as they state when a neighbor told me that they were constantly smoking in the apartment (against rules), and changed drastically when my superintendent had to call me at 11pm one night to tell me to contact my guests because they were having a huge party and blasting music. Multiple neighbors were complaining to him!! The nice students turned out to be not so nice. They left my home beyond filthy, smelling of cigarette smoke and rotten food and with a broken window. It is because of them that I have added a cleaning fee and a security deposit to my listing. Sad that the only think I ask in my posting is to live by the golden rule in my home. 'Treat others the way you would like to be treated'. They did not do this, or anything even remotely close.
