Black Bear Lodge was a peaceful location for enjoying a little time off the grid. All of the necessities are provided and the hosts are communicative. This isn't a luxury place, but it's certainly comfortable and well stocked, with cute cabin decorations.

The lodge is perfectly located as a posting point to go on day hikes to the Smoky Mountains and other outdoor activities. It is comfortable and quiet for recovering after long days outside. The lodge itself is stocked with the necessities but not with extra amenities (e.g. Wifi, extra paper towels, etc.). This was not a problem for us since the location was our prime concern, but you should keep it in mind if you are looking for something more than a cozy place to rest. The deck is very relaxing with a great view.

If you enjoy the outdoors this place is perfect. Beautiful views and a good location. Plenty of privacy and still relatively close to town.

Samuel and Tammy's place is again amazing! This is the second visit we have had and it was even better than the last (if that is even possible). They are superb hosts with wonderful accommodations! The setting is incredibly peaceful and serene, five stars!!!!

Lovely place in the woods, and a great departure point to the Great Smoky Mountains. Matches the description perfectly.

Overall, my family and I enjoyed our stay. We were very comfortable and enjoyed the peaceful surroundings. Sadly the weather prohibited us from enjoying the fire pit, but the morning views made up for that. We had everything we needed, with a few exceptions. One tiny thing was a need for a better heater on the lower levels with the two twins. My family are a cold blooded bunch, so that was a problem for the first night. But the furnace did help keep us toasty warm when we were on the main level. Also, Sam was very helpful and available. We failed to ignite the furnace and he didn't hesitate to come assist us. It was good to have him so nearby. Also, we had the pleasure of meeting a cute fawn who visited us daily. And when we wanted more sights to see, Pigeon Forge was about 50 min away. Not too bad to get to Tanget Outlet, the Titanic Museum, and other attractions / restaura ts. It was a great Christmas gateway with a good balance of nature / seclusion and touristy fun. I'd love to visit again!

We had a great time. The view was breathtaking, cabin was quiet and secluded. As others have mentioned, small cars may have a difficult time making it up to the cabin but the rocky road is definitely worth it! 45 minute drive to Pigeon Forge/Gatlinburg and close enough to the highways in and out of thr bigger towns. For the money, you cannot stay somewhere nicer.
