Private home. 3rd BR is a designated work space. Large yard. Also, renters are welcome to enjoy the park-like meadow, fire pit, pavilion, corn hole, boccie ball, creek - across the street where we live. 5 mi from DT. Short drive to the parkway for mountain vistas and hikes or to the River Arts District, music venues... wonderful restaurants, grocery stores, lake and bird sanctuary for perfect size daily walks.

The space
This is a 3 BEDROOM, bath and a half. (Its 3rd BR IS A DESIGNATED WORKSPACE.) The full BATH has a tub shower with new tile, toilet, sink, flooring and shower fixture. the primary bedroom has a half bath, also with a new toilet and tile floor.
I am a clean freak and so it is uncluttered but contains everything you need to feel at home and to enable your return from explorations in and around Asheville to feel comfortable and relaxing. The meadow across the street is yours to enjoy for daily walks along the creek or for rests in the hammocks or use of the fire pit, the small pavilion, a game of cornhole or bocce ball. This is a peaceful country-escape just minutes from everywhere. (see Refocus Cottage for additional photos).
Shop for unique gifts at the FOLK ART CENTER or the RIVER ARTS DISTRICT, enjoy dinner, a play, a concert, laugh on the Comedy Bus tour, sample our micro-breweries on the BREWS CRUISE, bike, enjoy vistas in the BLUE RIDGE MOUNTAINS (access to the PARKWAY just up the road).

The KITCHEN is VERY WELL APPOINTED with a KEURIG coffee maker, GAS stove, stainless fridge, solid maple cabinets and granite counter tops so you DON'T HAVE TO EAT OUT if you don't want to! (Charcoal grill on a deck). Rest in the hammock under the apple tree. Visit the creekside contemplative spot right across the street. See REFOCUS COTTAGE (airbnb 304379). UNIQUE properties. MINUTES TO EVERYTHING. Just 6 miles drive to DOWNTOWN ASHEVILLE and the BILTMORE ESTATE or the FRENCH BROAD RIVER for a float, kayak or fly-fishing excursion. 20 more will get you to our first class ARBORETUM with its extraordinary bonsai garden, miles of hiking trails, special exhibits, cafe and gift shop. There is no fireplace or Jacuzzi at REFOCUS FIVE or REFOCUS COTTAGE, but the world class spa at the GROVEPARK INN is on this end of town a few minutes away. Their lobby features two of the largest fireplaces to ever warm your toes and a piano bar to warm your heart with views to stir your spirit. They also have a FIRST CLASS, FIVE STAR SPA with hottubs, views, massages...
RECENTLY remodeled. Two BR's have comfortable QUEEN SIZE beds with quality linens. The third BR, used as a workspace has a SINGLE sofa bed All have plenty of natural light and lovely gardens out the windows. There is a common full bath with a tub/shower (rain shower head. The LIVING SPACE is nicely furnished, with a large flat screen HDTV and great wifi.
Local is a relative term here since downtown Asheville is only a few miles away but here in NORTH ASHEVILLE we have a Fresh Market, Harris Teeter and Trader Joe's, several fine restaurant/bars including vegan, Italian, sushi, Gourmet small plates and tapas, Vietnamese... Asheville Brew and View allows eating while watching a movie in a truly local environment. Consistently fresh and creative Zen Sushi and Cecilia's are two of our local favorites.
Although it is hard to beat the wildlife right here on the property, ONLY TWO MILES away is the bird SANCTUARY on BEAVERLAKE. Walk-able around the lake in 45 minutes, with decking for bird watching and lake gazing. It is a much appreciated nearby choice for guests to walk off the dinner or discuss where to eat next.

AND we invite you to share the park-like property across the street (also in airbnb - 304379) RETREAT like with a HUGE fire pit, pavilion, woods, glen, promenade of pine trees, badminton, boccie ball and bean bag toss.

I like putting people and environments together and have converted my art studio to a rental cottage to do just that. Since graduating from Carnegie Mellon as a painter, A LONG TIME AGO, I have had many creative occupations including theater, film, interior design and teaching. A strong desire to share the property that my husband and I have sculpted together for 15 years has led to the conversion of a free standing art studio to RACK FOCUS COTTAGE (304379). The need for a 3 BR led to the renovation of RACK FOCUS FIVE (1475299) . Because this property is right across the street from the cottage, its guests can easily share the wooded walk, creek sitting,meadow and fire pit of the park-like setting of the cottage. Similarly furnished and appointed it is ideal for larger groups. We love to travel but this is our favorite destination. Make Asheville yours. Stay with us. Short, extended stay or long term.
