My place is close to nature, the fjords, the UNESCO World Heritage site of Nærøyfjorden, excellent skiing, pristine nature, hiking trails, BC skiing, mountains, rivers, wildlife, powder skiing, snow shoeing, northern lights.

You’ll love my place because of the coziness, the authenticity, the solitude and the scenery. My place fits couples, groups of friends, and families with kids.

The space

Breidalen is a unique location. The cabin lies deep in the mountains, with road access only during summer. It has a very genuine wilderness-feel to it, suitable for those who appreciate a bit of an adventure. There's little or no traffic, no neighbouring cabins and usually no crowds at all. The cabin has been recently renovated and re-equipped, to function well also during mid-winter. A visit to Breidalen means escaping the haste and stress of the digital world. Breidalen is run by the the manager of the adventure company called Wild Voss, based in Voss.

Guest access

Full and exclusive access to the entire cabin, including the fenced area outside of the cabin.

Interaction with guests

I live in Voss, about 50 km from the cabin. I inspect the cabin regularly, making sure the cabin is always ready for visitors. I keep close contact with my guests by messages, email and phone. Detailed information, including a map, is provided both prior to your visit, and in the cabin itself.

Other things to note

There is no electricity or tap water in the cabin. Water is found in the nearby river. The cabin is heated by firewood, cooking is done on the gas stove, and candles provide lighting.

All the beds have recently been re-equipped with warm duvets and pillows. The mattresses, duvets and pillows have protective covers, but guests are asked to bring their own bedlinens, silk liners or sleeping bags.

From mid November to early June, the last 3.5 km of the road to the cabin will be covered under snow, impassable by car. In November and May, the approach to the cabin is doable on foot, with solid footwear. During the winter months (Dec-Apr), snow shoes or skis are essential on the approach.

There is little or no mobile reception in Breidalen. Reception is found approximately 1 km south of the cabin, with 4G coverage.

This place was just great. Even though we have 5 kids, the no-electricity and no-reception was great! We took a bath in the river (cold, but awesome), and I cannot recommend a hike with Øystein enough! We had a wonderful day, with kids chasing lemmings, and great walks on the summer snow. It was perfect!

It is the perfect place to forget everything in summer vacation. I spent a quiet, leisurely night and burning a candle and firewood. There are no people and only the sheep are met. Thank you very much for house owner who provided such a wonderful place.

Such a cute little cabin in a beautiful location! We enjoyed wandering along the stream. Everything you need with no hidden surprises. We had a wonderful night playing cards by the freshly lit fire. Would recommend to anyone looking for a scenic Norwegian experience. Make sure you pack wine before you leave, perfect for snuggling by the fire after a long day.

Absolutely amazing. Before we started the journey we were afraid how "different" the stay would be with so little amenities. But our stay there turned out to be the most unforgettable experience in our trip to Norway. The cabin is small but cozy with nearly everything you need. The valley is astonishingly beautiful. We drove all the way into the valley(the cabin is still quite near the entrance of the valley) and had been captured by the beauty of the nature. This road is more beautiful than the Flåm railway route (and this is for free). The lambs are cute and "friendly". The first day we did not know we could drive all the way down to the cabin, we stopped 100meters up the cabin. Maybe that patch belongs to the lambs, one giant lamb came over and "mie"ing at us and would like to literally kick us away. We were hiding in the car and then noticed there's the road to the cabin. After we drove down to the cabin the lamb went away. Indeed, the lambs are in general harmless as long as we do not disturb them. If you see some wild lambs grazing around and start to "mie" at you, don't be afraid just keep the distance and do your stuff they will forget about you and start grazing again. Did not notice that we need to bring our linens we slept on the "prepared" linens and ofc they are not as clean as at home! So did not sleep well and we are also a wee bit not used to use the traditional toilet. But that's only us. Apart from those 2 everything is perfect. Strongly recommend this resort!!
