Location

San Ignacio , Belize, Belize

We are located at mile 1 1/2 Cristo Rey Road in San Ignacio.  We are pinned on google maps and can be located easity.
Let us
know your arrival time at the Int'l airport and whether you are driving or
using the shuttle so that we can estimate your time of arrival.  We live here but we want to make sure we are
onsite when you arrive.

I
should mention that GPS does not work well here because there are no street
addresses.  Best thing to use is Google Maps because most of the
businesses here in Cayo have pins that show where we are located.  But
just case here is directions you can print out or put on your phone.

First
of all.............

Customs will ask you
where you are staying and the address!

Villa Cayo, Mile 1 1/2
Cristo Rey Rd, in Santa Elena
#610-1231  Virginia Krohn, Owner

If you
rent a vehicle from Crystal Auto.
.......located right on the airport.......they
will give you a phone that you can put some time on in case you have
questions.  They also give you an ice
chest to use so that you can stop at Chen's grocery and pick up supplies.

If you
would like to have wine or liquor on your vacation be sure to pick it up at the
duty free at the Int'l airport it is quite expensive and limited in the local
stores.

Here
are driving directions to Villa Cayo..
..........

Leaving
the Int’l airport
turn left on the Northern Highway.  At the Burrell
Boom Cut (19.3km- you will see a tall tower nearby) make a left and proceed to
the Western Highway (85.4km).  At the circle make a right turn on the
Western Highway towards San Ignacio/Santa Elena.  Proceed straight
thru the circle in Belmopan and again thru the circle in Santa Elena towards
San Ignacio.  Right after a speed bump you will see Chen's grocery store
on your right....best grocery store in town.....pick up supplies!

In
Santa Elena........ after going over the speed bump with Ceiba Realty on the
left you will see large CP Gas Station signs (yellow and green) on the
right........ make the next left turn which has a Red bus stop with seating and
a big sign above it that says Maya Mountain Resort and an arrow pointing
left........ turn left up that narrow paved road known locally as Cristo Rey
Road.  You will go straight ( the pavement ends and then a rough
gravel road) about 1
mile...... past Maya Mountain Resort on the right.......... then about a 1/4
mile on the left side you will see the sign for “VILLA CAYO” and that is our
driveway.  Turn in and come through the gate and up the hill to the
top.  You will be greeted by Ken and Virginia who will show you to
your personal villa.  You can phone us at # 011-501-610-1231  or
615-1945 for any help you need along the way.

 If you
are hungry.........when you are on the Western Highway........just before
Belmopan on the left side, you will see "Cheers" which is a tour
bus lunch stop.  If you want something a little bit different then make a
left at the Belmopan Circle (Hummingbird Hwy) and then another left at the
second circle.  On this street just few blocks down on the left you will
see "Pasquales Pizzaria" ..........if you go to the dead end of this
street and make a left you will see the bus station on your right. The side
street in front the bus station has the "Caladium Restaurant" right
across from the bus station. You can get a good meal for a good price.
See you soon.............Virginia

When you come to the circle on the Hummingbird Hwy in Belmopan you can make a

Western Hwy and proceed towards San Ignacio/Santa Elena.  When you reach
the first circle in Santa Elena proceed straight thru the circle towards San
Ignacio.  Right after a couple of speed bumps you will see Chen's grocery
store on your right....best grocery store in town.....pick up supplies!

When you reach the speed bump with Ceiba Realty on the left you
will see large CP Gas Station signs (yellow and green) on the right........
make the next left turn which has a bright yellow bus stop with seating and a
big sign above it that says Maya Mountain Resort an an arrow pointing
left........ turn left up that narrow paved road known locally as Cristo Rey
Road.  You will go straight ( the pavement ends and then a rough

COMING
FROM BENQUE or GUATEMALA

When you leave the border you will be
on the Western Hwy (now renamed to George Price Hwy) as you leave the town of
Benque you will make a right hand turn at the river......... stay on that road
for about 20 minutes and you will hit the San Ignacio roundabout and proceed
straight ahead...........down the hill to another roundabout with the police
station on your right.  Turn right and cross the high
bridge......still on the Western Hwy..........when you see the Social Security
Bldg on your left take the next right turn which has a bright yellow bus stop
with seating and a big sign above it that says Maya Mountain Resort and an
arrow pointing right up that narrow paved road known locally as Cristo Rey
Road.  You will go straight ( the pavement ends and then a rough
gravel road) about 1 mile...... past Maya Mountain Resort on the

I am Virginia Krohn and I am not only the owner of Villa Cayo but I designed, drew the plans for and built the villas. I am also a real estate broker and the owner of Belize Live-Retire-Invest which is myself and a group of expats dedicated to helping other people relocate to Belize. Originally from Texas I am a sculptor, painter and a custom home builder who knows how to pay attention to detail. After visiting Belize in the '80s my husband and I returned to the states, sold our home and business and relocated to Belize in 1991. Living on the beach for almost 20 years just 60' from that beautiful teal water was magical. As the island changed the magic did disappear and the new dream became building a luxury Eco-resort in the jungle. One of the best things I like about Belize is that I can afford to have someone help run our business, have a housekeeper and a gardener which allows me the time to do the creative things I want to do while providing jobs for talented Belizeans. Belize is not for everyone and it is only what you make of it.
