It is hard to express how much we enjoyed our stay at the wood & blue house. Our initial correspondence w/Joana & Diogo was so warm & friendly, we immediately felt welcome.
Diogo met us at the house & was absolutely amazing. He is very personable & sweet. He gave us a thorough orientation not only to the very recently renovated house but also Porto itself! My husband & I were so grateful for his very thorough & thoughtful suggestions on transportation, attractions, & restaurants (complete w/a marked map to illustrate them)--an invaluable introduction to the city. Despite other important family commitments he had that week, he checked in with us, was extremely responsive, & always available. He also provided us w/wine, port, fruit & a few groceries, making our arrival as comfortable as possible.
The house is very, very cool. So traditional on the outside, so architecturally innovative & hip on the inside. We were delighted to live in the very original design that made the house feel so airy & spacious, & I was thrilled at how immaculate it was. It's difficult to capture in photos the spaces & overall design of the wood & blue house--we knew it'd be chic, but were even more impressed on arrival. Our 7 year old daughter loved it as well--she was especially excited to have the room with the loft, accessed by a short ladder.
We enjoyed the quiet neighborhood as well--close to the river, a supermarket just a block away, access to the tram, & approximately 15 minute walk to Ribeira. We parked our rental car on the tiny street just a half block away, & we used a very clean & efficient laundromat (washers & dryers) very close by.
We would (& hopefully will) return to the wood & blue house in a heartbeat. THANK YOU, JOANA & DIOGO.
