The space

The cottage sits on over an acre of land and has spectacular views down the valley and back up the mountain. It has been renovated and extended recently to modern standards to provide added levels of comfort in this beautiful and very peaceful setting.

There is a large kitchen, dining room and living room that takes up all of the original cottage. This room has the original stone fireplace which now contains a wood burning stove. In addition to this there is a utility room, a bathroom and two double bedrooms. One bedroom is normal size room with a double bed. The main bedroom is very large and has a king size bed, an en-suite shower, sink and toilet, there is also room for a fold down single bed in this room.

The cottage is heated primarily by an energy efficient condenser oil burner. The system is timed but can occasionally be boosted, though we ask that our guests make fair use of the oil supplies given the price of oil and its environmental impact.

There is a large wood burning stove in the living and dining room. This burns seasoned logs very well. A small supply of logs will be available for every visitor. Additional logs can be purchase in the Spar in Kinlough.

The cottage contains a fridge, an electric oven, a gas hob, a microwave, a washing machine, a tumble dryer, a dish washer, a vacuum, an iron,a hair dryer, a tv, a dvd player, an espresso machine, various lamps, two shaver socket lights, an fm/mw radio.

We harvest rainwater from the cottage roof. The water is then filtered twice and uv sterilised. The result is beautifully clean clear water. It is ph neutral and free of chlorine and other damaging chemicals. We ask our guests not to pour anything down the guttering drains which may effect water quality.

There is a good selection of books at the cottage. We would ask our guests to avail of these but to leave what they find.

Outside there is a bench, table and chairs so that our visitors can enjoy the spectacular valley views with a cup of coffee. There is ample space for parking and for strolling.

Guest access

Guests will have complete access to the whole cottage for the duration of their stay.

Interaction with guests

We are available by phone at all times during your stay and are more than happy to help with any queries. Neighbors in the vicinity of the cottage can act on our behalf if need be.

The neighbourhood

The village of Kinlough is 10 minutes by car and the coast is reachable in 15 minutes. The towns of Donegal, Sligo and Enniskillen are within easy reach (30min, 25mins and 1 hr respectively), so exploration of Donegal, Sligo, Leitrim and Fermanagh is all possible.

The location of Eagles Rock Cottage is perfect for any number of outdoor activities. It is situated 300m from the start of the Eagles Rock trail, a trail that takes the walker onto Trusc Mór for fabulous views of Glenade and Donegal Bay. It is the perfect location for:

Hillwalking - through the Darty mountains
Cycling - through the quiet country roads
Fishing - course fishing in Glenade Lake and Salmon and Trout by license in the Drowse
Surfing - at Bundoran off the beach, or off 'The Peak'
Nature Photography and Painting- around the cottage and general Glenade area.

Of course if you just want to get away from it all there is a well stocked library of books for quiet hours of reading by the wood stove.

Getting around

A car is necessary to make the best of a stay at Eagles Rock Cottage.

Other things to note

Children are of course welcome and we can supply a cot and feeding chair if necessary. We would remind parents that the terrain around the cottage is mountainous and rugged, there are streams, rocks, ditches, fallen trees, bog holes and so on in the vicinity. With toddlers and small children (such as our own) in mind, we have fenced off a large area immediately around the cottage to create a 'safer play' area, however supervision of young children outside would still be necessary.

Small breed dogs are welcome. We cannot accommodate larger dogs or more than one dog at a time because the area is full of sheep that often wander on to the property. Owners are responsible for cleaning up after their dogs and any damage that a dog might cause. Dogs should not to be left in the cottage unattended and should remain in the living area only. Please do not allow the dogs in the bedrooms. Mess or damage caused by a dog may result in the loss of the damage deposit (to date this has never happened).

All towels provided are for use in the cottage only, please do not take them to beach or elsewhere.

We can only accommodate one small breed dog. Please do not instant book if you are planning on bringing more than one dog, or if the dog is larger than a small breed. One of our very favourite Airbnb's and we have stayed in quite a few! Location, cottage, amenities, décor, even down to the pillows and duvet, we could not fault a single thing we loved it! long walks with the dogs, some great suggestions from the hosts re eating and drinking around the area and everything you might need within the cottage if you fancy cooking. You need a car to get around or at least some bikes to get to the nearest town, but there are lots of very lovely walks around where the cottage is located and you will be lucky to see another person or car. Cannot recommend this cottage enough it really ticked every possible box.

We loved our stay in Eagles Rock Cottage! It was exactly what we needed: private, comfortable, quiet and rustic. We will come back for sure as we didn't get a chance to hike to the top of Eagles Rock, something that is obviously highly recommended! We also found Christine's notes about spots to visit very helpful and they were our main "homework" for the weekend! Thank you Christine!

Our family of three (2 adults & a toddler) thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Eagle's Rock Cottage. The secluded location & breathtaking views were exactly what we were looking for in a rental & completely exceeded our expectations. Even with the remote location, you are not far from some small shops, restaurants, etc & are very well positioned for sightseeing in the surrounding area. The cottage was very cozy & we looked forward to returning each night to sit by the fire. There were many books & DVDs available, and our 3 year old especially enjoyed the various kid-friendly ones! Most of all, our communication with the owner Christine was absolutely top notch. She was in touch prior to our trip with many helpful suggestions & greatly helped with some questions we had about things to do in the area. We would highly recommend a stay at Eagle's Rock Cottage to anyone, especially those traveling with small children.

Beautiful little cottage nestled right under eagles rock. We had a great time here, we spent a lot of time in the cottage during some stormy weather, it was a lovely cosy cottage to light the fire and listen to howling wind and rain outside

Where do I start ? Christine gave such thorough and comprehensive directions to and suggestions for the area. Straight away I knew I was dealing with a professional host, who had put time and effort into making our stay as memorable as possible. The hand written notes were a nice personal touch and the cottage itself is immaculately clean. Completely kitted out and with families in mind (baby gates at steps) also towels nicely presented on the beds, clearly thought and effort has gone into the details. The cottage is located in such a scenic and secluded area, it's a gem amongst gems! (a hike up trusc mor behind the cottage is a must) Both the Cuilcagh mountains and Slieve league cliffs in Donegal are within driving distance and worth a visit.. which is an understatement. The drive to the cliffs alone makes the journey worthwhile. It was foggy in Cuilcagh for us, so the view was impaired but the cliffs.. we're spectacular. Eagle's rock cottage is a superb place to stay if you're looking to disappear for a few days (cell coverage is limited, which can be a good thing) or as a base for exploring the north west of Ireland. Thanks Christine for the use of your place.. it was just what we were looking for

Christine User ProfileChristine is a superhost.

We are a family of five, we have three young boys who keep us on our toes. We love to travel and explore new areas and to see places as the locals would see them. Likewise we are pleased to help any guest who are travelling to our locality.
