Fantastic base with our three boys, they loved running around the garden and the fields. The house was really homely, with all you could need for a family break and some great antiquities to enjoy. Anne and Steve are exceptional hosts, with lots of good ideas and great company.

It's difficult to define the experience of an idyllic godsend! However, whenever you need lodgings of any kind in life you tend to remember premises, locations and hosts - either favourably or not so. The premises are picturesque; set in an exquisite part of rural Hertfordshire, yet within easy reach of nearby villages and towns such as St Albans, Hatfield and Hertford. Rail links to central London for work or pleasure are only a short distance away. This period country home is simply outstanding and delightfully English - the kind of setting tourists from outside the United Kingdom imagine as quintessentially 'British'. Exquisitely furnished throughout. Modern appliances. Powerful showers, and we all know that matters! A real feeling of a home from home. An exceptional feeling of being on a retreat. Gorgeous gardens with an array of local wildlife visiting regularly. Fantastic country walks start right outside your door. Well, that inadequately covers the spectacular premises and location. So what of your hosts? Well, frankly, outstanding! The sense of warmth, welcome, friendliness, trust, security and transparency is second to none. They are literally 'accommodating by nature! Even the most minor of needs are attended to virtually instantaneously. To sum it all up we met as hosts and guests and left as trusted friends. For a brief or lengthy stay the premises, location and most notably your hosts come highly recommended.

Lovely and very comfortable home. Although we never met Anne and Steve as they were up in the Irish mountains but we communicated a lot, promptly and graciously. Great hosts and loved the countryside. We would surely stay there again.

Beautiful home in a picture-perfect English setting. Anne and Steve were excellent hosts and made our stay wonderful by providing great suggestions about things to do. When you're at the house it feels like your miles away from everything but your actually a short train ride to London and a short drive to many great towns, shopping, and restaurants. Great for families too.
