Chianti Chalet is situated a short 15min walk from the gondola at Tsugaike-Kogen Snow Resort at the end of a quiet street backing onto a stream and surrounded by forest and mountains. The chalet features 7 guest rooms and a large common area which is great to share stories with fellow guest over après-ski drinks and a meal.
The space
Chianti Chalet is a medium sized pension in the Hakuba Valley located within walking distance of the snow resort town of Tsugaike. The Hakuba Valley is located in heart of the Japanese Alps and is the most popular region for winter sports activities in Honshu, hosting events for the Nagano Winter Olympic Games in 1998. The region has become world famous for its epic winter snowfalls and impressive offering of 11 snow resorts catering for skiers and snowboarders of all ability levels.
We are located at the end of a quiet street backing on to a stream and surrounded by mountains. Across the stream and accessible year round is the ancient Shin-no-mich Salt Road which in the winter time doubles as a cross country ski trail.
We have 7 private guests rooms onsite. The large common area is a great place to share stories with fellow guest over après-ski drinks and a meal after a big day on the slopes, or to simply relax listening to music on the Bose stereo system or watching a movie on the flat panel TV which has Apple TV, Netflix connected.
Your hosts at Chianti Chalet are Shaheed who is originally from Canada but has been living in Japan for over 20 years and his manager Ado from France who has also been living in Japan for over 5 years . We welcome guests from all parts of the globe for a short overnight getaway or a multiple week snow vacation. We can’t wait to meet you!
Meals and Drinks:
Breakfast is included
A bar service is provided on premises serving a wide selection of beer, wine, spirits, cocktails, sake, soft drinks, teas and coffees.
An optional dinner service will be provided each night. Vegetarian and special dietary requirement dishes can be arranged. Dinner service is not included in room rates and an additional charge will apply on a per person basis.
Transportation:
A free van pickup from the Tsugaike Bus Terminal is available upon request. Please arrange this service at least 24 hours prior to your arrival. We will do our best to accommodate your desired pickup time.
A fee respective of the pickup / drop-off location and time of the day will apply for any specific drive.
We offer a free shuttle service to the Tsugaike gondola in the morning and a return journey in the afternoon.
Parking:
Car, van parking is available on site free of charge.
Accommodations:
Rooms 2-6 can accommodate a maximum of 5 persons. Rooms 1 and 8 can accommodate a maximum of 2 persons only however they feature traditional tatami matted floors and futon beds so are perfect for couples wanting a traditional Japanese sleeping experience.
All bathing and toilet facilities are shared.
All private rooms have independent oil heaters.
A storage area is provided adjacent to the entry area for ski and snowboard clothing and equipment. There is shelving available for boots and hangers for jackets and pants.

Internet:
Free wifi is provided for guests. Coverage is available in guest rooms however signal will be strongest in the common area. Pls note - due weather conditions, WiFi may be a little flaky on occasion.

- Free use of the facilities at your disposal in the lounge.
- Breakfast and Dinner will be served in Chianti Chalet right across the street.
