This is the kind of place that I wish more hosts would provide. A very clean and simple place to stay at a very reasonable price. Alejandra's apartment was perfect for my stay in México City. If you are not familiar with Escandon, it is a residential neighborhood just south of the more famous Condesa. From the apartment you are a short three or four block walk to get to the Condesa. There is a good cafe right around the corner for coffee and breakfast, called Yume. But I usually went to a place called Cafe Toscano Mercado that was a few more blocks and had great omelettes. Key to me, the apartment is quiet at night and you can close the divider in the middle of the apartment to provide a very, very dark sleeping space. I slept incredibly well there. I made tea in the apartment and did some cooking as there is a gas stove. There are two convenience stores right down the street, and OXXO that is open later. One tip, the shower has hot water, but if you turn it on full blast then the hot water will run out very quickly. So, turn the water on to get it hot, then turn it very low so you have enough hot water for a shower. They had just installed a new toilet so the bathroom was very neat and clean. The loft is behind the car park building on the first floor. So, you sometimes hear cars coming and going and there is one person that leaves at about 7am I think but it is not very noisy overall as I got some great sleep and I am a light sleeper. There are also some cool books in the apartment and I left a couple of magazines so enjoy them! Overall, a super bargain and you are basically in The Condesa without the prices of staying in the Condesa. More tips, there is a Starbucks very close by if you just can't do without Starbucks, they have a smoking patio and a very cool upstairs area. The Starbucks is next to International House which provides Spanish lessons or english lessons. Also, there is a co-working space very close by, just search on (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) Maps. However, the internet in the apartment was very reliable so I just used the Internet there. One final comment, the bed was really comfy and had a think comforter and fluffy new pillows. It was winter time, and so I needed the think comforter. Being south of the Condesa, it is walking distance to the WTC neighborhood (World Trade Center) which I explored as I had not been there before. I think that is the closest big supermarket, Superama, either there or the supermarket in the Condesa.
