Nice, spacious flat in the heart of historical Alfama. Beautiful view towards the Tejo river. The flat is conveniently located near cafes and restaurants (which do cause some noise when the windows are kept open). Maria was very welcoming and I enjoyed the stay in this flat.

Cannot imagine a better place to stay in Lisbon!! Secluded yet central, this apartment is in the center of the historic Alfama district and it's an incredibly gorgeous spot. Maria herself is a joy - picked me up from the train station and gave me a brief tour of the area. Very thankful I booked this place - thanks again Maria!!

We enjoyed our stay. The place is cozy and comfortable. We had everything that was needed and Maria was a great host with excellent communication and warm welcome. Only advise is to take care on luggage. You will need to walk up some cobblestone streets and roller suitcases are not best option.

Maria's apartment is perfect as a base in Alfama. Nestled in winding cobblestone streets, in a local, friendly & lively neighbourhood, it's a great insight into Alfama. It's compact, great value for money with amazing views. Very easy to get around - close to public transport.

The pictures give a really good Impression of Maria's studio. We had three lovely days, we slept well, got coffee and cocoa from the Little Café in the morning and often sit near the open window to look at the River or on the other side to look in the small street and listen to guides who told tourists about Alfama. We felt like real inhabitants of Lisbon, which was great. Maria was very friendly and showed us a little of Lisbon with her TucTuc. She explained to us where to go and what to see. The apartment was equipped with everything my 10year old daughter and I needed for our stay. The Wifi worked really good, so that we could plan our trips on the internet. A really good place to stay in Lisbon for a couple or adult and child!

Maria does an excellent job of making you feel welcome and provides a plethora of information, referencing a guide about Lisbon she has in the apartment. She also offers tours of Lisbon and the surrounding area. We had a quick tour of the city then crossed the bridge to Almada. There was a lovely beach over there where the river and ocean meet. There was a wee bit of confusion about the check-in time for me, I didn't realize upon arriving @ 0830 that I wouldn't be able to occupy the space until 1430. The apt was relatively easy to find using a 'maps' application. Also, I assumed check out would be late morning, however someone came into the apt to clean around 9AM. He seemed surprised and then left. The apt is beautifully situated with a delightful cross breeze from the river. There are french doors that open onto the street side along with a tiny balcony. You can get a great coffee and food from the cafe downstairs accompanied by excellent service (and sometimes a serenade from the tourists that stop by for a drink). There's a great view from the miradouro (portas do sol) just up the stairs in front of the apt, I recommend the sunrise if you're up that early as you'll have the entire plaza to yourself. The apt itself has plenty of pots and pans for cooking and lots of utensils. There are approximately 3 mokkas for making coffee on the stove, but they're rather tricky to use as the handles are missing and you have to strategically balance the pot on the grate. Additionally, you may want to bring a dish towel as I didn't find one in the kitchen. Also, the bed pillows were rather lumpy, so we used the flat seat cushions. Overall, though, it's a very charming space, it just needs some minor maintenance and repair to some of the appliances. I think the view and the morning breeze made up for it.

And because I believe that I live in the best city outside of South America, it is my great privilege and honor, to give my guests a unique and unforgettable experience, than it is to live in one of the most typical and ancient neighborhoods of Lisbon, like Alfama

I was born and raised in Lisbon, it is my passion. Come and discover this city, the secret villages, like Afama, inhabited by real and authentic, in alleys and streets where one can listen to fado flavored sardines.
