My place is a traditional building in a historic and very calm neighborhood just 10 blocks away form the city center.

The house is built around a very ample central patio and has a large living room with a chimney.

What makes this place different is that it is an organic urban garden experiment in progress. The house is full of edible plants. You are welcome to learn about the process and enjoy anything growing in the house.

The room is very comfortable and has a beautiful view.

The space

The house is ample. It has a large open area in the middle where you can hang out or have breakfast with the morning sun. The living room-kitchen area has a chimney you are welcome to use to warm up or to cook, there is always firewood available. Your room is comfortable, with an nice bed, a little sofa a couple tables and space to put your clothes away. It has a window with a beautiful view.

The urban garden is not only my house but a space where different and innovative ways of growing an urban edible plant garden are taking place.
In the roof of the house is a 7 X 4m greenhouse where we have tropical weather plants like mexican and peruvian chiles, basil, uchuas, tomatoes and chayote. Outside the greenhouse and scattered all over the house are medicinal and aromatic plants like fennel, oregano, thyme, cilantro, parsley, arugula, chard, rosemary, different mints and flowers.
Its important to say the house doesn't have any soil, its all built, so all the growing takes place in wooden structures which recicle water. The house also has a worm-farm on the roof so all the organic waste has a use.
Guests in the house are welcome to eat as well as to learn from the garden. If you are into organic growing or eating this is a very interesting place to stay at.

Guest access

Besides their room guests have access to the living room-fireplace-kitchen area as well as to all the open air spaces which include the central patio (where we can pull out a table, there is also a two person swing), and the rooftop greenhouse which is a pretty cool spot.

Interaction with guests

I speek fluent spanish and english, anything you could need please let me know, i'll be more than welcome to help you out.
I have a pick up, and can offer to take you to different places if you don't want to take the ordinary tour and would like to pack some good food and go for a day or half day private trip.

I am part of a organic growers colective called AWA. If you are interested in organic growing, you can visit other houses of people from the collective and further your knowledge about different ways to grow food in the city.

Other things to note

All the furniture in the house is made with recycled wood and all are original designs made by us.

In this house we encourage a responsible use of water, and an organized garbage disposal.

If you've read the previous descriptions you've already figured out whether this place is for you or not. It's rustic, beautiful and located close to the city center. Daniel is also very welcoming and friendly plus he can recommend many things to do in and around the city. If we came back to San cristobal we would definitely come here again.

We had a short and sweet stay here. The garden and plants around the house are beautiful and we got a new perspective of life in San Cristobal. Daniel was super friendly!

Unfortunately we didn't see the property as Daniel didn't show up due to all sorts of complications. But he was very apologetic and refunded the night as well as gave us some money extra. So still recommended in some way!!

I really liked Daniel's place. It's certainly not the nicest place you'll find, but in terms of adventure, it's unrivaled. There is a cool greenhouse, a lot of opportunities to help with planting/gardening projects, and a very friendly and open vibe. Hope you enjoy it.

Daniel's place is rustic and beautiful, though about a 45 min walk from the center. Roosters will be your alarm, as the ones right outside the window have their dawn conversation at the earliest possible time. Beware of the fireworks set off by neighbors that might also be part of your morning jolt... All the furnishings are made by hand from pallets etc. including the bed, which was as hard as the pillows were flat. I had to leave after one night at Daniel's place, which was sad because it was cool vibes even though I never actually met Daniel.

Daniel was so amazing! Very accommodating, despite us being extremely delayed. Such a great place to call home, even for a short time.
