Set in our small mixed woodland at West Cottage and Stables in in picturesque Glenlyon, our 20ft yurt offers complete privacy, a choice of two fire pits (one under cover) and amazing views, a wood burning range cooker, and a double bed – to mention just the essentials. The yurt is lined with wool, and there's a pull out twin bed and a kettle and toaster. There's cold water in the yurt and a full bathroom a short walk up to our house. There's also your own loo right by the yurt.

The space
Glenlyon is a most beautiful glen, remote yet accessible. The wildlife is extraodinary. During the summer months the red deer can be seen gathering in the fields that line the road. As Autumn approaches the stags can be heard bellowing nightly as the rutting season gets underway. In the winter, vast herds of stags appear around the lochs and the low hills as they come in searching for winter sustenance. In the evening small groups of roe deer can be glimpsed amongst the birch and beech trees. Hares abound both in the hills and in the fields. Red squirrels squabble and play as they go about their daily chores. It is not unusual to spot the occasional pine marten out on the prowl in the evening. Wood mice, stoats and weasels make occasional appearances around the gardens where the hedge hogs are nightly visitors. Badgers and foxes can be seen returning from a night's foraging as you drive home from the Fortingall Hotel after a drink or a meal. It is unusual not to spot an owl perched in a tree or atop a pole on the same journey. Buzzards soar majestically calling out to each other above the glen. You may never see the otter or the beaver or the eagle but they are all there, and are all part of the magic that you get to share when you come to stay here.

Guest access
You'll have access to our wood-burning sauna, small private woodland, fire pits, full bathroom facilities in the house plus your own loo in the woods, and all the walks and cycle rides in the Glen and beyond.

Other things to note
There's lots of things to do in the locality: white water rafting, whisky distillery, canyoning, horse-riding, fishing, and all kinds of country pursuits.

We've lived in different places all over the UK, but we're happy to have landed in the Glen. We love the landscape, birds and animals, and the lifestyle, and we're delighted to be able to share it with other people.
During your stay
We're happy to let you get on with things yourself but we're always happy to chat and help out where we can – and even share a glass of wine or a beer around the fire if you'd like.
