Our annex is a modern barn conversion linked to our main house. It's close to public transport, beaches, pubs, the Eden Project, the historic harbours of Charlestown, Fowey and restaurants. Newquay airport is 30 minutes away. The Lost Gardens of Heligan and National Trust properties, walking and cycling trails are all close by. Our place is in a quiet location with a level garden and wooded setting. It's good for couples with friends and families with older children. Choose twins or double beds.
Tristram Counthouse was originally part of the Tregrehan Estate which was established in the 15th Century. The house was built in 1852 from locally mined granite and was the Count House for Wheal Tristram mine and principally used as an office. Later in 1881 the property was split into two. The outbuildings/barns had been a blacksmiths and stables for the mines horses. We have the full history of the property which makes for interesting reading for historians and is in the guests welcome guide.
The gravelled car parking area to the front of the property and large level garden is shared space with the owners. However guests do have an outdoor seating area solely for their own purposes.
Interaction with guests
We expect guests will be too busy out and about enjoying what the area has to offer. We both work part-time but are on hand if needed and happy to offer any help with local attractions, directions and general advice if required. We will be here to welcome you on your arrival and handover the keys but after that your space is your own. We will respect your privacy as we trust you will respect ours too. Our aim is to ensure you have a pleasant and enjoyable stay.
Other things to note
Parking in the car park can be tight but there is unrestricted roadside parking available directly out front. We are happy to park our cars out on the road if you prefer to park within our gated car park area. Please let us know on arrival.
- The gardens are communal, we have an open ground level pond, a friendly cat and Springer Spaniel dog. We also have chickens. We kindly request children are supervised at all times.
- On safety and provision basis we would like to advise that the gardens and accommodation are best suited to over five year old children. Please do contact us if you would like to bring younger children and babies.
Hi, I live at Tristram Counthouse in Cornwall with my partner Richard. We met as volunteers working for VSO overseas in Nepal and returned to Cornwall together to run a B&B. We ran the B&B for seven years before selling up, downsizing and buying a cottage for us with an annex/converted barn for friends, family and holiday guests. We have both travelled for pleasure, lived and worked overseas in Nepal, Oman, Dubai, Hong Kong, Europe, East Asia, Australia, New Zealand to name but a few. We enjoy walking, cycling, outdoor pursuits have climbed the Annurpurna in the Himalayas, cycled through Vietnam and Cambodia. We enjoy downtime in our garden, with our chickens, cat and Springer Spaniel - Bonnie. We love good locally sourced and home produced food and the company of good friends and guests. Our motto is ' go with the flow, enjoy life, live in the moment'.....We hope you will enjoy staying next door to us....we have a wealth of local information and can be available to advise should you need to know where to go to eat or visit local attractions. Richard was born nearby and knows the area very well.
