This lovely shepherds hut is in an area of outstanding natural beauty 2 fields from the Bluebell Railway, a restored steam railway, and the Ashdown Forest. The hut is cosy, in a lovely private garden for your sole use. Comfy bed, french linen bedding, and wood burner. Good for couples, solo adventurers, and dogs (extra charge). Space for a tent for 2 children (extra charge). The outside cook space is complete with a barbecue as well as gas hob. Plenty of great pubs nearby.

The space

The hut has mains electricity and water. A great hot shower in the ensuite bathroom plus hot water for the outside sink. There is a double gas burner outside as well as the barbecue. Plenty of logs and kindling for the wood burner and enough charcoal for one good barbecue.

Guest access

Please ask for details if arriving by car. The hut is about 1/2 mile from the Bluebell Horsted Keynes Railway Station. Buses run to that station once an hour only on Saturdays and Sundays (Route 270). If you travel by mainline railway to Haywards Heath it is about a 10 minute taxi ride.

We had a excellent stay here and our dog loved it too. The hut is very comfortable, cleverly designed, and with a great shower. The garden is lovely and very big, and there are lots of good walks nearby. We had a great meal at the Cat Inn and enjoyed the barbecue in the garden. The location is beautiful and extremely peaceful. Overall it was a great trip and Sue was an excellent host. Many thanks!

A beautiful, cozy and very well thought-out little slice of heaven! We had a perfect stay, from making our breakfast outside overlooking the countryside and Sue's picturesque garden, to exploring the delights of the surrounding area, visits nearby pubs such as The Cat Inn and the Horse and Coaches (both of which serve fantastic food and wine!) There's lots to do nearby, from walks around Ardingly to visiting Sussex vineyards and sampling some great English sparkling wines. The hut itself is incredibly well designed. The bed is so comfy and the shower had excellent pressure and heat. The small fireplace inside was also great! Sue has done amazing job with the place and we would recommend to anyone visiting the area. Thanks again for a wonderful stay!

Just the loveliest few days in the cleverest of places. I can't quite believe how well thought out the hut is. Everything worked beautifully, a little piece of genius. From the very large, powerful shower to the eco loo to the knock out bed (immediate coma-like sleep) we enjoyed every blissful second. Sue was extremely kind and helpful and really did provide everything we could possibly have needed. The absence of both wifi and phone signal was a revelation in terms of it's positive effects. We returned to London well walked, calm and happy. And all for such fantastic value for money... an absolute 10/10 in my humble opinion.

There are many things to do in the neighbouring villages and if you love walking, this is the place to stay. Sue was amazing and so flexible, she was also on hand if we needed anything.
