2126 Pierce is a gem nestled between Eastern Market and the world famous Heidelberg project.

Just off the Wilkins exit for the new Dequindre Cut extension, guests can easily walk or bike to the Riverwalk, Downtown, or Midtown.

You’ll love our beautiful mural, modern interior, gorgeous open spaces, and proximity to urban amenities.

We welcome everyone from first time visitors to long time residents (pet friendly). All we ask are that the home and neighborhood are treated with respect.

The space

This modern cinder block home was the brainchild of Cranbrook Architecture Master’s students Matthew Miller and Thomas Gardner who began the project in 2007.

Uniquely designed for urban living, their hard work and construction skills finally yielded the 900 square foot home, that stands at 2126 Pierce street.

Since those students have graduated, the space has gone through a series of hands and the condition of the property declined.

Beginning in 2013, my business partner Jason Lindy, and I, began the process of completely renovating the property and, today, the property sits pristine and remodeled. It now functions as a fully operating micro-bed and breakfast. We feature Detroit artists and builders in the space to showcase the talent and treasures available to purchase here in the city.

Guest access

You'll have full access to the home, the surrounding outdoor spaces, and the greater neighborhood.

Please review and adhere to all house rules, provided in the description and at the Airbnb.

Interaction with guests

We try to give the guests as much space and privacy as they need but we are also available at a moment's notice.

Other things to note

We've had multiple articles written about our renovation project from organizations like Curbed Detroit and we've been featured as a place to stay on the local TV news. Search 2126 Pierce Street Detroit to learn more about us, find our website, or like us on social media.

Entering and Exiting- Security System

Before your arrival 2 Codes will be texted or messaged to guests by hosts. 1 for the front door, 1 for the alarm system.

The code for the front door operates the deadbolt only. The knob above the keypad only becomes active upon entering the code.
Enter code
Turn knob to the right to unlock deadbolt.
Upon entry the alarm will begin to beep. Alarm keypad is located in closet directly inside entryway to home (on the left).
Enter alarm code and press “DISARM.” (If alarm is not disarmed within 30 seconds, alarm will be tripped.)

At bedtime, we usually use the “ARM-STAY” function, which will alarm the doors.
Ensure all doors and windows are closed and locked.
Press “ARM-StAY”. System will verbalize- “Armed stay- exit now.”
To disarm before exiting, press “DISARM” and enter alarm code.
Please activate alarm system while you are out and about. To do this:
Ensure that all doors and windows are closed and locked.
Press “ARM-AWAY”. The system will begin to countdown for 60 seconds.
To lock the front door, press the “Schlage” button at the top of the key pad.

Thank you Darin for allowing us to stay at your home. We truly had a fun weekend. We felt very safe and was very quiet. We enjoyed the space it was perfect for our group. We were less than a few miles from all the downtown adventures and Lions game. It was just a few dollars for an uber and not having to deal with parking was so worth it. Will definately book again ! Thanks from the Cross gang

VERY unique space and location. We thought it was perfect mix of quiet and privacy when we needed, but within 5 min car or Uber to restaurants, nightlife, etc. Eastern Market is definitely walkable distance, we were lazy and drove, though. Darin is a great host and quick to respond to any issues. I set the alarm off by mistake, he immediately checked in to see if we were okay. Numerous people who were driving by stopped to inquire about the house, murals, neighborhood history and it was great to meet and chat with every one.

What you see is what you get; a tiny beautiful home in the middle of field. Despite the location of the home, it is in a safe neighborhood. The Police Station isn't far away, and there's plenty of restaurants & grocery stores around. It's dark at night, but it's completely safe. We came for the Jr. Olympics, but we're looking forward to exploring Detroit again and we will be staying at 2126 Pierce Street.

Fun and funky place! It's got a unique, trendy vibe and very clean. Definitely resembles Detroit. You're going to want to have a bicycle and ride to Eastern Market in the morning-- the house is so conveniently located! We loved our stay and highly recommend it!! Things to note: There isn't a hairdryer! And the patio furniture consists of two chairs, hopefully there will be more in the future!

Darin User ProfileDarin is a superhost.

I'm a former environmental engineer, urban farmer, small-scale real estate developer, and owner of a real estate brokerage in the great city of Detroit. I love to travel and prefer staying in urban areas actively being revitalized or the unspoiled wilderness.
