The space

With a Pine Forest as background and the spectacular Himalayas as foreground, Taara House is a labor of love and done completely by the family.

Nestled on a 6600 feet hilltop, the cottage is just 3km away from the city centre and 1/2km from the iconic Hadimba Temple.

Done up in classic and mid-modern style, the two bedroom cottage is made of reclaimed/recycled wood and the piece de resistance is the glass house for dining under the stars or even indulging in some sunbathing!

Design connoisseurs will also appreciate the use of Burma Teak, English Oak, and Pine.

The bedrooms are spacious and stylish. Highlights include; Scandinavian light fixtures, customized furniture by ANTHOLOGIE DESIGN and fine art collection.

Traditional Himachal touches are there in the form of the Bukhari ( Indian Fireplace)

Both bedrooms come with stylish sofas to soak up the endless mountain views. The master suite includes a twin bed as well.

The top-level garden offers spectacular views and is accessible to the guests on request.

The Kitchen is fully equipped with microwave, OTG, Espresso Machine and is well stocked for guests to cook.

We do a thorough professional clean between every day and each guest stay.

We kindly ask that prior to leaving, you clean and put away any dishes or kitchenware used and put any dirty towels in the hamper. It helps us get through our cleaning process quicker and allows us to keep cleaning costs down for you and future guests.

The housekeeper will clean once a day. So please respect that.

Self Cooking

We provide guests with cooking gas, utensils, basic spices, sugar, tea and milk powder. The kitchen is fully equipped and the guest is responsible for it.

Don't ask the housekeeper to cook for you.

Don't ask the housekeeper to do the dishes every time you cook. If you want these services you have to pay her extra.

We do not allow smoking inside the cottage as there is a lot of wood around and it is for your safety. But you can smoke away in the outdoor spaces.

One of the best place to stay if your at Manali. Good interiors and the view from the garden was mesmerizing. The cook made awesome food and never hesitated to provide what we needed. Moreover Tanya made sure that everything was fine. Such a great host and such a wonderful place. Would definetly stay here on a winter.

If you are looking for a cosy home away from home perched on top of a hill where you would just want to sip endless cups of tea/ wine admiring the breathtaking views of the snow capped mountains and lush green valley, Taara House just takes the crown! The house might look simple from outside, but the minute you step in, you'd realize its a piece of art; the interiors inspired by Scandinavian architecture come with all modern amenities. The pictures do perfect justice to the actual property. The cherry on the cake is the in-house cook, who can dish out a variety of lip-smacking breakfast, snack and dinner items- ranging from Indian, western, italian, Kashmiri- veg and non-veg both. They have a cute little garden with lots of pretty flowers and apple trees and picture perfect views. We went with our two children, an infant and a 5 yr old and the host went out of her way to arrange for a baby cot for us from Delhi to Manali before we arrived! Tanya is very amiable and accessible and though she is based out of Delhi, it hardly feels so since she is very much on top of whats happening at TH and ensures that your stay is very comfortable. We stayed for 4 nights and honestly, we didn't step out to any tourist place even for a day. All in all, TH is a hidden gem for families/ couples to unwind with all the comforts of a modern home yet quaint and fairy-tale like! Would surely like to come back again!

My friends and I have just returned from Taara House, and we can't wait to go racing right back up. The cottage is beautifully done, with great attention to detail and all creature comforts. Rita and Pawan, the caretakers, were lovely and welcoming, as were the army of adorable dogs. Tanya was available on the phone throughout, checking-in. TH is perfect for a summer getaway from Delhi, and I can't recommend it enough.

We had a wonderful stay at Taara House and will definitely come back in summer. The cottage is absolutely stunning and comparable with any mountain lodge in the world. In fact sitting at night, sipping my wine in the beautiful glass house and gazing at the stars and the mountains, it felt like I was in the Swiss Alps! Done up tastefully, and having all the amenities, our stay was extremely comfortable. Highlights for us was no doubt the glass house and the beautiful artwork and furnishings. The caretaker and the housekeeper were welcoming and helped us with all our needs. The host doesn’t stay on the property but was always available and gave us some great recommendations. The kitchen was well equipped and there was an espresso machine with ground coffee as well, something one hardly sees in India. It was the small touches which makes Taara House a wonderful place to stay, and it was unfortunate we just spent a night. Next time we will definitely book for a longer time. Highly recommend this place, as it is unlike any other cottage we have seen in India in terms of design and location.

Tanya was very easy to get a hold of leading up to the visit to Manali. We loved the beautiful views and the picturesque views from the living room. We couldn't stop taking pictures because it was so beautiful at all times of the day. The people helping out were lovely and had children and puppies which was a lot of fun and very adorable. We did go during March and there ended up being a snowstorm. The windows were not all finished and we were actually getting snow on us in the living room. Additionally there were many leaks and we had to spread buckets around to catch the water. Since there were opening for the air it made the stay very cold and we felt like we couldn't warm up the entire trip. The wood stoves were nice, but they did not heat the house which made for a very cold experience. I would recommend this place for its picturesque views and beautiful scenery. I would suggest that these windows be put in and the heating issues be fixed. Once they are fixed I am sure it would be an incredible place anytime of the year.

Response from Tanya:
Dear Kimberlynn, Thank you for your feedback. The snowstorms in March are unheard of and unseasonal. Hence, the unexpected and sudden damaged to the glasshouse. It could not be fixed immediately since everyone was snowed in. It is fixed now. Apart from woodstoves, we have electric heaters as well. If you had once messaged me or communicated you wanted additional heating, we would have immediately given them to you. I was constantly in touch with you and would message you in case of issues, do get in touch. So I wish you had. We are sorry your experience was par excellence and hope to host you again in better weather conditions.
