Location

Atenas, Alajuela Province, Costa Rica

Our neighborhood is called Concepcion de Atenas. The original mountain ridge route to the Coast and to the town of Atenas 5 km away, is now Hwy 3. Buses are frequent and inexpensive. Our elevation is 750 M so only light clothing is required.

I am retired from my profession as a helicopter pilot , but I continue to be engaged in an entrepreneurial project in aviation. Our home for 16 years has been an exercise in making a unique place that maximizes the special topographical features left over from the gravel operation. Goats, chickens and two dogs are our pets ; I have a special interest in amateur engineering and two of the three houses on the property exhibit some of those skills. I am not fond of traveling but I enjoy offering hospitality to those who do travel. Good conversation around a campfire, performing some music, making something work better are some of my pleasures. My wife and I have been happily married for 47 years and we have 3 grown children, one of whom lives here in Costa Rica with her husband and my two grand-children. Our goal for hosting is to expand our circle of friends by sharing what we have and what we are.
