This review has 2 parts: 1: The apartment is as shown in the pictures; the interior is nice and spacious with a comfortable set of furniture and a nice balcony and view. The host was very good and helpful with communication and advice about getting around. You will need a car a…
Response from Farina:
Dear Richard Thank you for your thoughtful review . We are sorry you did not enjoy your stay in our Studio. To clarify, our team sets up and cleans the property a day prior to each guest's arrival, and also refreshes it on the morning of a guest's arrival. But, as you have observed yourself, this does not prevent little bugs and creatures from re-entering the property and making their presences felt. This is part and parcel of tropical island living. Even the best resorts in Langkawi cannot eradicate the presence of little tropical critters - after all, they were here before us and will continue to be here long after we are all gone. The Gaze property was constructed with its site and climate in mind. Its open-ness allows for better air flow and also helps cool the building's interiors. Tropical living at its best is typically semi al fresco in order to conserve energy usage - which is much the reverse of the way buildings are constructed in the cooler climes. Of course this means that our homes are also more prone to having the presence of little harmless creatures that are native to the surroundings. It is part and parcel of the environment where our Studio is situated. Incidentally, while we take note of your comments about the doors and windows, please understand that replacing them will do little (if at all) towards preventing the presence of lizards. In future, if you do travel to this part of the world again, perhaps you may want to consider a more conventional choice of accommodation. The larger brick and mortar hotels that offer hermetically sealed rooms may lessen the chances of lizards and harmless bugs interrupting your stay.
+ it's beautiful location in a forest like setting + size of room is good - beauty of the forest comes with hiking up and down to your car(hassle) - the beds are really stiff (good for your back but not so comfy) - the layout of the room is rather odd (we all bruised out legs o…
Fantastic location. Doesn't have a view of the water from the flat itself but it does from the pool. Our stay left us with this feeling that we were staying in a beautiful yoga/Kung-fu/Zen temple on a mountaintop. It's not literally a mountain though - the southwest tip of the is…
We had a great time at Farina's Gaze Studio. It was up a hill, surrounded by trees and chirping birds- just what we wanted! Despite that, we were only a short drive away from Cenang Beach and food shops :) We recommend bringing a torch light if you're coming back late from somewh…
I am an architect, and Gaze is my private holiday home. It is where my husband and I raised our daughter in her early years and still return to when we need a break from our city life. Gaze is managed for us by a team of enthusiastic, lovely folks who manage several propertie…
