Our cozy little cabin is on Silver Lake, not far off of Spirit Lake Highway, on the way up to Mt. St. Helens. It is a mixture of rustic, starting its life as a very simple fishing cabin, and dash of luxury, having been recently remodeled. The view from the front porch is lovely looking across the road to the lake. Spend your days hiking, exploring the mountain or the quaint towns of Toutle and Castle Rock, fishing on the premier bass fishing lake in the Pacific Northwest.

The space

We added many fun unique aspects when we remodeled: a cozy pellet stove insert in the field stone fireplace for warmth (pellets provided), phosphorous in the hardwood floor which glows in the dark, a solid live-edge slab of Pacific Northwest Douglas Fir as the eating bar, sliding barn doors, a 1947 vintage electric stove, a reading cubby stocked with books, puzzles, games, movies, bathroom with a vintage buffet vanity covered in pennies with a glass vessel sink and a shower that includes copper slate tile, marble base and seat, frameless glass enclosure and four shower heads. The front porch is adorned with massive log posts for supports. We still have plans to add an outdoor kitchen and work on landscaping.

Side note: We use our cabin ourselves and then rent it on AirBnB when we can. We do not operate multiple vacation home rentals as a business. We manage this ourselves on the side. We strive to make it a warm, clean, cozy space for our renters and continue to learn from our experiences and our renters.

Guest access

Guest will have access to the whole cabin except for one closet.

Interaction with guests

We live about 80 miles south of the cabin in Portland. We are available via phone/text for the small stuff and will make the drive in an emergency. There is a booklet in the cabin providing the basic how-to's.

Other things to note

Coffee, tea and cocoa are provided. The kitchen is stocked with pots/pans, cooking utensils, dishes, glassware, silverware. There is soap and shampoo in the shower and a hair dryer in the vanity. Towels are provide. Linens are provided for all three beds (we do not make the sofa bed but linens are provided for use as needed and stored under the nook bed).

We enjoyed our stay here. It was the perfect location for exploring the mt st helens area. The neighborhood was quiet and the neighbors were very friendly. We loved using the canoe out on the lake.

Amazing, quiet, comfy and relaxing. This little cabin was perfect for us, though not as clean as we would have preferred. Amazing shower and front porch, comfortable house and peaceful environment. The hosts were prompt and helpful and made our stay seem less. We will be back!

Response from Rebecca:
Hi Garry, Thank you for the constructive criticism. We do try to be as accurate as possible and continue to make upgrades as we see needs. Your larger group of 5 people for 6 nights was more in both categories (people and length of stay) than we usually host. I can see how space for storage of food and stuff would be important. I will see how we can improve in those areas. With regards to the canoe, if you used the one that was next to the shed, that is ours and I am glad that you were able to put it to use. Regards, Rebecca

Hosts were great about everything. Cabin was cozy. Overall, it is a very quiet rural area. About an hour drive to Mt. Saint Helens. Be super careful on the road that goes to and from Saint Helens. Deer are crossing all the time. Don't speed and please leave space between cars. We almost hit four deer in one day. Also, came close to being rear ended because of it.
