House Rules

Small rules to live in harmony!

1- When you come in the house please take the passports and tourist visa to allow us to register in the guest book and immigration.

2- If after the Chek-in a second person stops to sleep in the house, please notify the host and produce identification that will have to be recorded in our guest book.

3- IN NO EVENT allowed under 18 years old unless accompanied by his family.

4- Please when you return from the beach to make sure not to get into the bathroom with sand! We have an outdoor shower to remove the sand!

5- Remember not to throw toilet paper or whatever (paper, sanitary napkins etc ...) in the toilet! Use the special container, thanks!

6- We recommend carrying with it mosquito repellent! Cuba is a tropical country and in the sea areas there are mosquitoes. In our home there are anti mosquito electrical and the Cuban state forces us to smoke the house to eliminate the mosquitoes! Please respect the rules of the place in case you have to do this service, mandatory by the Ministry of Public Health Cuban.

7- Check in at 14:00 and leaving at 12.00. This can be flexible when we have another entry on the same day!

The house was simpel but okay. Everything was not that clean, but we get new sheeds and towels after 3 days, that was very good! It was very hot, in the evenings it was better to be outside than inside because there was only a fan. Location is good. Nearby everything you need!

We had a amazing time in Cuba. Unfortunately Simone wasn't there during our stay so we didn't meet him. The residents didn't speak any English so it was hard to understand eachother. The Casa was nice with a lot of space and it's clean. Some chairs are a bit uncomfortable but the bed is fine. There isn't a lot of pressure on the shower but the one outside was a good alternative. The residents are very helpfull, they saw our creativly hanged musquito net and directly started drilling a hole in the ceiling so it could hang properly. We left it there for the next visitors :). The location is good, it's close to the mercado and the beach and from Guanabo it's 20 minutes to Havana. It was no problem to go on a trip for a couple of days and the residents where very friendly. To bad we couldn't really have a conversation with them.

It's spartan, but very close to the beach and typical of the area. Friendly hosts and fans in the apartment!

This apartment is literally 1 block from the beach so if you are looking to be outside of the city in a nice, quiet, REAL Cuban area this place is great. There is plenty of space to relax and a cute yard you can hang out in. The neighborhood has tons of delicious and affordable restaurants and a grocery store right on the corner..(mind you this is Cuba so you are looking at water, beer, rum, juice and canned goods). There is a fan in the place and no AC which was enough for us because multiple windows cause a cross breeze. Everything was very clean. Please note that the water is room temperature and turns off at 9 PM or so and this is city wide. We loved our stay here, Simone was incredibly responsive. I recommend this apartment to anyone visiting Guanabo!

Simone's place is different from any touristy Havana locations you may have been expecting. It is a beach town. But it is a beach town for the people of Guanabo. The bleaches were not very clean, riddled with trash, stray animals (which is a Cuba staple) and decomposing kelp. The local food was less than desireable. Only because the insane amount of mosquitos and flies that follow the stray cats and dogs into the outdoor restaurants. The local water is sea water, so do not drink it. But the local shops offer water at .80 for a 1.5 Liter bottle, which is not bad. There is an ice cream shop down the street and a grocery store on the corner. As for the home specifically, it was well decorated, and clean for the most part. There are fans and the windows are shaded so the house stays cool. But as I said, Guanabo has a serious drainage problem on the side roads, which cause for the house to be over ridden with mosquitos. When we arrived Yodalys had just sprayed the house with gasoline to kill the mosquitos. It worked (I had never heard of that) but the fumes forced us to stay most of the night outside, where we got to play with her super cute puppy. When we did go inside we found quite a few dead mosquitos after the fumes subsided that we had to just deal with. The water was not specifically warm or cold (another Cuban thing) but there is a working clean fridge and freezer for you to use. We left early the next morning (fumes) and Yoadalys was able to help us find a taxi into central Havana. For me this place was not my favorite, however, it is a true Cuban expirience

It's a bit hard to find as the streets have a unique system. Just find the TRD supermarket and walk two blocks in (away from the market).

Hi Everyone!!

My name is Simone , I am 43 years old and I come from Italy. For the past 15 years I am spending part of my time between Italy and the wonderful Cuba.
Together with Yodalys I am running the B&B Guanabo, a family facility located just a few meters from the beach and only 25 km from the Havana city centre.
I am an easy going person, well educated, polite and love socializing with people from around the world.
I've always had a passion for Central America which I believe to know very well. In my life I've experienced places like Nicaragua, doing voluntary service, Costa Rica and I have travelled extensively around Mexico and Guatemala.
With Cuba it was love at first sight! Cuba is a wonderful place, fascinating from many aspects and thanks to my previous marriage with a Cuban lady I experienced the real Cuban life discovering the real culture and the splendid Cuban people.

Should you need any information where to go , what to visit and how to get to places around Cuba, feel free to contact me and I will be delighted to help you and in case I am in Cuba at the same time during your visit we will definitely have a good chat accompanied by a nice and fresh Mojito!

Looking forward to seeing you in Cuba!
