The historic clapboard home was built in 1836. It was built of pre-cut lumber milled in Cincinnati and then floated down the Mississippi River!

Dan's house is amazing and full of history. It feels like living in the past in the best possible manner. The breakfast was amazing. And on top of this, Dan gave us a piano concert on the morning followed by the history of the house and Natchez city. I would not go anywhere else in Natchez. It was easy to meet the other guests in the house and we had a very convivial moment.

This host goes above and beyond to make you feel at home. We stayed in the downstairs room. The bed was comfortable, everything was exceptionally clean and the breakfast was delicious. I would definitely stay again and recommend it.

Beautiful place, like you stepped back in time..but with modern amenities. Loved waking up to the sound of the piano, getting in a little history tour, and ending my stay with a delicious breakfast and lovely company.

Great stay - the pictures don't do it justice. Stay here - you won't be disappointed. Enjoy the record player and great record collection in the sumptuous room and huge bathroom.

We had an amazing stay at Dan's place in the wonderful Natchez. The place is so peaceful and full of character, as well as being conveniently located to the river and restaurants. Both Dan and Kevin are so warm and welcoming, and the breakfast is second-to-none. Thanks again!

If you want a beautiful, peaceful setting, Garden Dong is definitely the place.

Dan User ProfileDan is a superhost.

I am a single dad of one grown son. I love to travel - and I am constantly seeking opportunities to explore places rich in history and architecture. I also love the outdoors. Music is my passion - I play for a lot of venues and am very involved in Christian music ministry. I also love books and am a writer - just finished my first novel. I am also a self-taught architect. Designed and built my own home, Somerset, in 2014. However my day job is Executive Director of the Mississippi Association of Self-Insurers, an advocacy group for self-insured employers. I am also a lobbyist in Mississippi for workers' comp and health insurance and a former small town mayor.
