Mains Cottage is in Glenlivet,Speyside,- Perfect Rural Location for Outdoor Activities. You’ll love my place because of the views, the location, and the outdoors space.
Centrally placed to explore the Cairngorm National Park. Skiing, walking and cycling are just a few of the various activities that can be enjoyed from here with the Lecht and Cairngorm Ski centres both easily reached from the property and the Glenlivet Mountain Bike Trials are just 15 minutes away.

The space

The cottage is equipped for a comfortable stay including a microwave, coffee maker and gas Rangemaster cooker and all the essentials are there for making an evening meal. There is a 2 seater recliner sofa and 2 soft armchairs for relaxing in the evening in front of the woodburner. In the dining room there is a further futon sofa, which can be used for an extra 2 guests and the dining table extends to seat 6 if wished. A variety of games are there for you to use and books of general interest to browse through. There is a TV with free Sat and a DVD player if you wish to take your own. In the spare room an airer is provided for hanging up any wet clothes after being out and about. Free Wifi is available so you can make the most of your stay by seeing what is around and about.

Guest access

There is plenty of parking and a lockable garage will be made available on request for those all essential bikes that will be needed to try out the Glenlivet Trails.
A keysafe is used for access and we request that guests put it in there when out and about to avoid losing the key.
A torch is a requirement in the winter as it is dark except for the brilliant stars that can be seen.
Plenty of walking and cycling around and about.

Interaction with guests

The cottage is very remote and although there is a cottage opposite no one lives there, so peace and quiet is guarenteed.

Other things to note

Please be aware that there is no phone reception at the property, however there is a telephone that can be used for emergencies. Due to steep stairs the property is not suitable for the less mobile and children under the age of 6. The bathroom has a bath with overhead shower. The cottage is fed by its own water source and has a septic tank so we request guests to be respectful of the environment.

A lovely cottage with stunning surrounding scenery. Perfect place for a quiet retreat (but with the bonus of still having wifi!) Having a car was a necessity for us, allowing trips to Tomintoul Highland Games and a wee day trip to Lossiemouth (also stunning and a great ice cream shop!). The cottage is indeed 'cosy' (not small, but warm) with the addition of having the log burner for any days/nights that you want extra heat. Great relaxed hosts that provided all information upfront - great communication. Thanks again for allowing us to stay in your cottage x

We had a lovely stay at Mains cottage. Its located in a beautiful location, with nice walks in the area, exactly what we were looking for. The cottage itself is was better than I expected, with everything we needed to make our stay comfortable. Theresa was also a very nice host, making sure that we had the basics when we arrived late from our flight. Would definitely recommend to others, and consider staying there again.

Great stay at Theresa's! The house is secluded and tranquil in amongst beautiful scenery. There was a lovely pub, The Croft Inn nearby and very conveniently located for the malt whisky trail! Would recommend

Mains Cottage exceeded our expectations. Tucked into a little dell it is a very quiet location, with only one other cottage immediately visible. We really appreciated the combination of privacy, tranquillity and being (a healthy) walking distance from Glenlivet distillery. On our first day we did a 13 mile walk from the cottage door, taking in the distillery. On our second day we drove to walk up Lochnagar, which proved to be a fantastic day, all weathers and a clear (if icy) summit - we were even treated to mountain hares. Around the cottage itself there were plenty of hares, deer and small birds to be seen. The cottage was scrupulously clean, with everything we needed. We really appreciated the living room stove and the strong, hot shower. We planned for few shops nearby, which proved correct, but also found a good store for extra bits in Ballater.

Our expectations of a quiet, remote place in the wilderness of the Scottish Highlands were completely met and our stay in the cottage was truly restful, relaxing and joyful. The cottage is well equipped for cooking your own meals and comfortable for staying to explore the area. We had all the comfort we wanted and went for a few short walks on the minor road passing the cottage. Despite no telephone reception, the Wifi and the TV both worked very well. The Wee Stove in the living room made us feel very much at home and added to the coziness of the cottage. For us, it would be a nice place to return to.
