The space

Designed by an architect, the recent refurbishment keeps true to the original character of the 18th century building while providing the apartment with the amenities that can make a stay comfortable, including central heating and a private parking space.

You can enter the apt. from Salvador Sá street, with no stairs to climb, directly to the entrance hall that leads to an ample living room and dining space whose walls are lined with original hand painted tiles.
You’ll find on the bookshelf a selection of books on a variety of subjects (fiction, art, architecture) in English, Italian, Spanish and French. I have an interest in traditional portuguese arts and crafts, and the apartment is furnished with things I collected when living there.
There is WI-FI access and a flat screen TV in the living room.

Next to the living space you will find a fully equipped kitchen with stove, fridge, freezer, dishwasher, microwave, toaster, washing machine and everything you need to feel at home.

One of the bedrooms has twin beds, and a full en-suite bathroom, with bathtub and shower cabin. The other bedroom has a double bed and a bathroom across the hall. An extra bed can be provided.
All the rooms face south and have large windows with ironwork balconies overlooking the trees of the patio in front. Shimmering through the leaves, you can see the city and the river Tejo.

Towels, linen and sheets are provided.
Rosa is the housekeeper and can upon request provide additional cleaning services, or shopping in the nearby Ribeira food Market.

Strategically located between Chiado, Bairro Alto, Santa Catarina and the river Tejo, you are at walking distance to the city´s main attractions. Passing nearby is the famous “Elevador da Bica” (funicular) that links the Bairro Alto to the riverside, and within a 10 min. walk, you can take the #28 yellow tram for a full tour of the historic districts, including Castelo de S. Jorge and the 12th century cathedral.
The riverfront is ideal for sightseeing, cycling, jogging or it´s lively bars, music and restaurants. From Cais do Sodré Station you can take a 30 minute train ride along the coast line to Carcavelos, Estoril or Cascais, recommended for their beautiful beaches and surf spots.

Maria was there to meet us when we arrived, she was very friendly and answered our questions about the area. The apartment is lovely, very spacious and comfortable. The kitchen has everything needed and it was all very clean. Very nice bedrooms and beautiful bathrooms. It is a short walk down a steep hill to the river and close to restaurants. There is a lot to see and do close by. Please be aware that Lisbon is a very hilly city!

It was a lovely modern well equipped apartment, in a good location for exploring the city. However being on the ground floor the apartment was noisy, especially at night from neighbours above and people passing by late at night.

Maria's enthusiastic assistant Rosa was there to greet us and show us everything in detail. She is so lovely. The apartment exceeded all our expectations and was fabulous. So spacious. We cannot recommend this place more.

This is a lovely spacious apartment in a perfect location for exploring Lisbon. It is a perfect place for two couples, with two separate bathrooms and lots of living/dining space. We were greeted with a bottle of wine and cheese which was a lovely surprise as well as cupboards stocked with coffee and tea. I'd thoroughly recommend it.

Maria was a fantastic host. She was extremely welcoming and helpful upon our arrival and also gave us lots of information beforehand. Her apartment was beautifully decorated, spacious and based in a really good area. We had an amazing stay and would reccomend it to anyone. Thanks Maria!

Due to a delayed flight, we were 5 hours late (arriving after midnight) but Maria was there to welcome us to her lovely, spacious and comfortable apartment. Great, surprisingly quiet, location. Highly recommended.

Our stay was fantastic. The Apartment is beautiful and spacious, more than the photos can convey with a great location in Chiado neighborhood. "Time Out" Mercado is close by and has all the food and wine choices in one spot. Rosa, who was there to meet us, is very sweet and energetic and made us feel very welcome. I can't imagine staying anywhere else in Lisbon.
