Our place is close to and halfway in between Asheville, NC and Lake Lure, NC. You’ll love it because of the coziness, privacy, high ceilings, location, and views. Kenzie's Cottage is good for couples, solo adventurers, and business travelers.

The space

As guests at Kenzie's Cottage, you will enjoy privacy yet rest secure in the knowledge that we are just a phone call and/or several steps away, if you need anything. We can help you find what you're looking for in the Asheville or Lake Lure area and are familiar with area hiking opportunities. We are only a few miles from several beautiful Hickory Nut Gorge trails. (By the way, the path outside the cottage's front door leads to a couple of short but beautiful forest trails!) The driveway to the cottage is very long and lined with trees - so you really do have lots of privacy here. We believe you'll enjoy your stay. And, by the way, especially if this is your first time vacationing in the mountains, the cottage has air conditioning and heat, so you'll be snug in your own vacation paradise.

Guest access

The space is complete in and of itself. There is a kitchenette with sink, microwave, and mini-refrigerator. There is no laundry room.

Interaction with guests

You will have our cell phone numbers to connect with us at your convenience. Our house is also located directly across from the cottage - about 60 feet away. So when we're home we are just a quick stroll away. In other words, you will have complete privacy unless you need something from us!

Other things to note

We periodically work in the yard close to the property immediately surrounding the cottage. Though you might see us out and about during your stay, we will respect your privacy.

- Request no eating outdoors to keep from encouraging the interest of coyotes or bears.
- We will take responsibility for removing trash and recyclables from the cottage after your stay.
- The cottage is ideally suited for one dog of small or medium size that accompanies you. The cottage is surrounded by the forest and so you will want to be confident your dog will come when called or be prepared to use a leash when outside the cottage. Also, it's best to not leave your dog unattended in the cottage. Rather, plan to take him or her with you on your outings. So far, folks who have brought their dogs are coming here to hike with their dogs and have come at a time of year when it's safe to leave their dog in the car while they go to restaurants and coffee shops.
- Our dog Daisy is friendly. She likes to greet people and dogs. She does appear a little high strung until she has said hello, at which point she is so content she appears bored. However, unless she is with us, we keep her fenced in. So you and your dog will have comfortable access to and from your car.

A great getaway. Fairview is relatively close to both Ashville and the Chimney Rock/Lake Lure area. A beautiful secluded cottage with all amenities including access to your own private hiking trail up the side of Little Pisgah Mountain. Joseph and Sarah are great hosts who are very considerate of your privacy get close enough by to answer any questions or take care of any requests. A lovely mountain retreat at a very reasonable cost. We will surely be back! Patrick and Diane

This cottage is just as charming as the photos show. There are trails all around, and it's so quiet. Nice little kitchenette for making tea/coffee in the morning. Friendly hosts.

This was our 2nd time staying at Kenzie's Cottage and we again greatly enjoyed our stay! The location is very peaceful & the trails on the property are a lot of fun. There was also a bunch of information on some great local trails that we had never tried that we really enjoyed. We brought our 1.5 year old puppy with us and she loved it as well. The location is easy to navigate to and easy to head downtown or out for hiking. We now have enjoyed this great location in 2 seasons!

Wonderful spot to stay! Nice and secluded but still just 25 minutes from downtown Asheville. Very clean, safe, private, and charming. The cottage itself is so lovely and relaxing. Enjoy beautiful western North Carolina from your own little private woodland cottage. We highly recommend!

My fiancé and I were planning a little getaway to Asheville and wanted something cozy and off the beaten path, but still close to downtown. Kenzie's Cottage was perfect! The cottage is nearby the main house, but hidden in its own little area surrounded by the woods. It had everything we needed and more: a fireplace, kitchenette for storing food and drinks (and fully stocked with cutlery, plates, cups, coffee maker, coffee, trash bags, etc.), a bathroom with plenty of clean and fresh towels, a main bedroom, ironing board, a small collection of movies, a TV, Wi-Fi, and fireplace. We loved that the cottage had large windows in the living room so we could see out into nature every morning. The home is an easy 20-minute drive to downtown Asheville, as well as major highways for exploring other areas outside the city. The cottage is located in a nice area called Fairview which has a smaller, but nice, selection of restaurants and breweries, too. Sarah and Joseph were the nicest hosts and made us feel welcomed during our stay. Even our dog Apollo joined us! (He dog was never left alone in the cottage, joining us on hikes, at restaurants, breweries, etc. Asheville really is so dog friendly!). Sarah was super communicative answering all of our questions quickly and thoroughly. We couldn't have asked for a better trip and highly recommend Kenzie's Cottage to future visitors of Asheville. We plan on making another trip in the future!

This was the perfect cottage for a weekend getaway! Very close to hiking trails and not a bad drive to Asheville.

I'd highly recommend staying here. My wife and I didn't want to leave. There's cool trails around the house that our energetic dog loved and you're only about 15 minutes from Asheville. As much as we enjoyed our first visit to Asheville, the highlight of our trip was actually the time we spent at the cottage. It was so relaxing! Not to mention, Sarah left some recommendations to some great restaurants. 10/10

A "fairy tale house" is how they described the beautiful home my husband and I discovered for sale in 2015. We fell in love with it and, we swear, it fell in love with us too! With our cats and dog we live in the forest, half-way between Asheville and Lake Lure, North Carolina, i…
