My place is near the lively German Colony, the center of Jerusalem, and the Old City, but still recessed enough from that area to avoid traffic or other noise of that type. It overlooks a pedestrian/bicycle/jogging park that runs for several kilometers. It is also beside another smaller park. Be aware that it is a walk-up to the fourth floor. The advantage here is that it has great views front and back. The building itself is undistinguished, but the apartment has been renovated completely.

The space

This is a well appointed, renovated and equipped one BR flat on HaRakevet on the border with Baka/Emek Refaim, with a lovely view of Park HaMesilah, which runs for several kilometers and accommodates separate "lanes" for joggers, bicyclists and walkers. A/C, self-cleaning oven, TV, WiFi, cable, washer, dryer, fully equipped kitchen with microwave, cutlery, pots, etc. Besides the bed in BR, there is also a sofa in the LR-Salon area that can be turned out into a bed. In addition, there is an iron and hair dryer in the apartment. The building is close to all amenities in Jerusalem and within walking distance of many landmarks.

Guest access

You have access to everything in the apartment. The kitchen is fully equipped.

Interaction with guests

Except for the Sabbath and religious holidays, I am available for help. You will also know how to reach me for emergencies.

Hi. We reply quickly to all reservation requests or inquiries. We have turned off Instant Bookings for the moment, because we are not able to check in/out on the Sabbath (from Friday evening to 90 minutes after sunset on Saturday night) or on the major Jewish holidays (please see special note regarding Passover/April below). If this should arise for some reason, we'll make every effort to work out an entry/exit schedule that we hope will suit everyone. However, during the winter season here, we request that you please NOT reserve if you are planning to check in on Fridays after 10 a.m., or if you plan to check out on Friday after 0800 Jerusalem time, or check out on Saturdays before 2100. The same applies to Jewish holidays, such as Rosh Hashanah, Yom Kippur, Sukkot, Passover or Shavuot. To repeat, we can NOT accommodate guests who check in/check out either during, or shortly before or after, the Sabbath or these holidays. We recommend that you inquire before making a reservation to ensure that you are not checking in or checking out at these times. Thank you. We wish you a wonderful stay. Special Note regarding Passover and Sukkot. SInce we may not be around to check you in or out, the only reservations we can accept for these times are for the entire period that covers these dates plus at least two nights before and one night thereafter. Once again, we will do everything we can to accommodate you and limit the pressure on your pocketbook, but please inquire beforehand, i.e., before you make a booking online, so we can work out the dates and arrangements. Many thanks. Whatever accommodation you choose while in Jerusalem and Israel, we wish you a lovely stay.

On Fridays and Saturdays the minimum stay is 2 nights.

This apartment was great for a long stay. We stayed ten nights and the apartment had everything we needed and there was lots of space. Everything was clean and in good condition. It was so nice having a washer and dryer and oven, iron, hair dryer etc. Abraham and Aaron were kind and willing to answer my many emailed questions and were quick to respond. The a/c was cold and worked well and the wifi was great. The neighborhood is really safe only minutes from restaurants and grocery stores in the German Colony. The apartment is right on the HaMesila Park (a 7km bike path). We walked the lovely pedestrian path every day to First Station (about 10 minutes) that had lots of restaurants. From there there is a free shuttle to the Western Wall Dung Gate/City of David area. The shuttle is in the First Station parking lot and runs every 20 minutes from 8am to 8pm Sunday to Thursday and shorter hours on Friday for Shabbat. We also often walked 35 minutes to the Jaffa Gate from the apartment. There are meters along the streets in neighborhood where one could park. Apartment provided dish soap, laundry detergent, 3 rolls of tp, shampoo and 2 rolls of paper towels and bath towels. You may need to provide own trash bags and hand soap. Our only problem was sheets and comforter/duvet cover smelled like body odor, so I had to wash them all when we arrived. It was a really heavy blanket for the summer and we would get really hot in the night even with the a/c on coldest setting. Bed was very comfortable though. Also no self check in or out available so you have to arrange meeting someone both to get key and return key.

We had a wonderful time in Jerusalem. We stayed 2 weeks and the location of the apartment is great! We walked to the Old City. It's a very nice walk and only took about 30 minutes. The first train station is only a 15 minute walk and there is a free shuttle from there you can also take. The apartment is worth the climb up because you get a cool breeze and very nice views from the top floor. Very safe neighborhood with everything you need close by. We will definitely stay here again. Love this area. Much more pretty, quiet and green then other neighborhoods we saw. Loved having both the washer and dryer. Some apartment's only offer a washer. Clean , and comfortable. We loved our time there. And Aahron the host and his assistant Abraham are so nice and helpful with directions and suggestions. Abraham took the time to show us around the area so we knew that first night where everything was in the neighborhood and apartment. If we ever visit again I wouldn't stay anywhere but here!

Response from Aharon:
Dear Cindy: Thank you for your lovely assessment and also the suggestions you added privately about making sure that future guests know that we do have an iron and hair dryer, so not necessary to bring. It was great to have such a wonderful couple here and we are delighted that you enjoyed your stay here. We look forward to seeing you again very soon. Aharon (and Abraham)

Great location on the old railway, several buses via Emek Refaim straight to the city center (~10-15min). The old railway park is very good for am runs. If you're frum, there is a congregation in 4min walk on the Asher Street with 3 morning minyans. A 24/6 local grocery 5min away on Emek Refaim. ~25 minutes to the old city Jewish quarter by foot via Zion Gate and the Armenian Quarter - a very safe walk across the highway right of the Yemin Moshe neighborhood.

We were very pleased with the apartment. It's well kept, clean and well equipped. For Sabbath observant people, there is a hot water urn and candles are provided. The only drawback is that it's the fourth floor without an elevator. The location is great - near the railroad tracks park and near Emek Refaim.

The apartment is renovated, clean and comfortable. Aharon was easy to deal with and check-in and out was easy. The flat is on the top floor of a 4-floor building so it's only appropriate for someone able to do a lot of steps. The entrance and stairwell is not impressive but the apartment itself was very nice. Parking ease was a a pleasant surprise. One word of caution: the outside steps leading up to the building are unevenly spaced/ not uniform, and on several occasions I almost face-planted while descending to the street. Tread carefully! I recommend this flat highly for anyone wanting to live like a local and comfortable going up and down many flights of stairs.
