Originally built decades ago as a artist studio,Turtle rock is a tiny cabin at the end of a private road, nestled against the rocks with jaw dropping views in all directions. A truly spiritual place surrounded by boulders. Enjoy the magic healing energy around.

The space

Original artist studio- sat empty for the last decade. I bought it 1 year ago and renovated it so it's comfortable hip and as all the amenities you will need to enjoy the wide open surrounding spaces . There are pathways to Buddha rock, brothers boulders and the beautiful canyon behind. There is a pathway to the Lookout giving you amazing views of the desert floor and mountains beyond
Please read the reviews ! I'm proud of the place and hope you will find it an amazing get a way.

Other things to note

Large covered patio connected to the cabin - a perfect place to dine and relax while enjoying the views. Nearby is an amazing outdoor shower between a large rock formation with hot and cold water ( winter time it would be too cold )

Respect the environment. There are many wild critters please leave everyone alone and enjoy sharing the space with them. Keep the doors or screens shut or you may have visitors inside (I had a road runner literally run through the cabin when I was remodeling ) Due to the amount of rain we've had there are a lot more mice and squirrels so very important to keep things shut and don't leave food out
You can hike or just do nothing there are many boulders to sit or lay on and enjoy the healing energies - it's magic!

This was my first trip to the California desert, and I couldn't have asked for a better place or a better host. Steve responded quickly to all my questions. The property is beautifully designed; you can tell a lot of love went into it. And it backs up to a canyon that's great for hiking, full of boulders and rock formations. I only wish I could have stayed longer!

Turtle Rock Ranch is amazing!! It's quiet, and peaceful, and the scenic views off the property are stunning. The outdoor patio is perfect for lounging any time of day or night and the trails leading off the back are great for mini explorations! You can even walk through the canyon out back and catch some great sunsets at the top! Buddha Rock is a great place for quiet reflections in the evening.... Oh, and the house itself has everything you need for a comfortable weekend away... I'll definitely be staying here again :)

We affectionately call this Glamstag, for the teal, glitter-horned deer sculpture above the bathroom door! It is a little slice of desert heaven. Spirit-filling peace descends on the patio cottage at the base of Bartlett Mountain as views of gorgeous rock formations and trails that lead to the top tempt even the laziest guest. Hot or not, the outdoor shower is the perfect way to start or end the day. Thanks, again, Steve, for providing the perfect weekend getaway. Everything I need; nothing I don't.

We love Turtle Rock Ranch!!! We've stayed there twice now and are already looking for the next weekend to come back. The property is amazing -- inside and out. Inside is very cozy with modern touches and amenities (including air conditioning!). The outside is paradise. Big comfortable patio with an incredible outdoor fireplace. The mountains are literally the backyard! Steve has set up trail areas that lead to seating areas throughout or, of course, you can voyage out for a hike on your own. I can't say enough about the property itself -- so lovely. If you're looking for privacy and a cool spot to decompress under the stars... you will love Turtle Rock Ranch!

I'm going to second all the other reviews on here and say that everything is as advertised: Great cabin with everything you need, wonderfully quiet and secluded, and spectacular views. What I will add, that others have not highlighted, which made an impression on me, is the amount of care and attention that has gone into this property and the grounds. The gardening and landscaping and care to make the whole place fit in and beautifully harmonize with the surrounding landscape make this a special place.

This is the very best Airbnb we've been to! It has everything you need and nothing you don't. The pictures do not come close to capturing the consuming peace and singular beauty Steve has framed here.

Turtle Rock Ranch is a wonderful portal to the desert world for both the novice and seasoned visitor. Whether sitting safe and comfortable on the back patio or striking off into the back country, you won't be disappointed.

I bought this cabin a year ago -no one had been in for a decade. It was very basic I remodeled and expanded it. The location is priceless. A rocky hill behind and Bartlett mountain in front makes it the perfect place to hike or do nothing. I'm a rock freak so I can spend hours …
